If I wanted to stay safe I would go for the Shrimp Pasta or NY Strip. Something a bit more daring would be Crab Legs but I'm not thrilled with the corn relish. To be really daring I'd go for the grilled Mahi Mahi....the last time I had grilled fish I really did not enjoy it yuck (not sure what kind it was). I'm more of a fried fish gal.

So anyone have any opinions on the above dishes?

AngieInOH - my husband and son had the NY Strip and they both said it was really good! I was so glad they had it on the menu, DH doesn't eat fish and DS often prefers steak, and from what I hear its very popular at Coral Reef and a big seller so I'd think they get a lot of practice in making steaks.

I had the catfish on grits, and if you don't care for fish I wouldn't recommend it to you. I enjoyed it, but it was quite speeeeecy spicy!

I hope you'll enjoy whatever you order, its a pretty restaurant!

2nd best steak ever (behind Le Celler) was at Coral Reef this year...

They do a great job with the NY Strip. I love seafood, but just was not in the mood for it that night so I figured why not..

Was cooked perfect and wonderful...

i had the steak cause I HATE seafood...it was REALLY good!!!!

other people at my table had seafood & chicken & no one said anything was bad....so it was all positives on my end!!!

i had the steak, & enjoyed it.

but fyi, if you're going to have the chocolate wave for dessert, it really doesn't matter what you have as an entree ~ one bite of the CW & you'll forget any other food you've eaten!! (yeah, it's just that good!) :cloud9:

I had the lobster salad and bisque and it was oh so good! My FIL had the catfish and raved about it. My DH had the mahi mahi and he said that it was good as well.

I think all the desserts are wonderful. We had four people to our party and each of us got a different dessert-the one that came in last place was the mousse. It was a little strong on the Bailey's for my taste.

This is such a great restaurant, I haven't really heard about anything bad from it!

The Coral Reef was our favorite dinner on our last trip!! DH and I both had the steaks for dinner. They were sooo good! LOL Our oldest DD had the children's Mahi Mahi and loved it. She also usually only eats fried fish so we weren't sure if she would like but she did. She also loved the Lobster Soup too. I had the Citrus Creme Brulee as my dessert and that was also sooo yummy!!! :worship: HTH

Coral Reef is one of those rare Disney restaruants that our entire family can agree on. The first time we went there I was a tad bit nervous because i had read so many conflicting reviews here on the dis.

Now this was 06, and I still remember exactly what everyone had. We all had the steak. The only thing that we did have that was diffrent was the appys and 2 of us had the Lobster bisque and the other 2 had the shrimp cocktail.
Well let me tell you, it was wonderful. Service was great, food was even better. But, the icing on the cake for me was the Chocolate Wave dessert that they serve.

Well once again in 2007 I was a little nervous after reading the reviews on the dis. But, the rest of my family was determined to eat here again. Now let me tell you the only reason I let them have any part of the descision making process, besides giving their inital suggesions of what restaurants they wanted to go to, was because Coral Reef took the ice cream from the chocolate wave and I was so disappointed with that, that I as determined not to return. My kids were not happy with that decsion and made sure that I changed our ADR's so we would be able to go back there.

Well, we went this time and it was even better than the last. This time we tried some diffrent items. But, the most memorable for me was the catfish dish. I am a pretty picky eater and very particular when it comes to any kind of seafood. I will also let you in on a very well guarded secret, I am the slowest eater on the planet. While my husband is not picky at all and I think he eats so quickly I am not even sure he tastes the food.

Well to make a long story short I was finished with my entire catfish dish before anyone else at my table. It was so good. I have made it a few times since we returned home and the rest of my family agree with me and say they have to try it when we return again in the Summer. (Now who told them we were going back):rotfl: The kids just know their mom.

So if you go to Coral Reef try something you wouldn't normally try they just might surprise you. Think about it like this what is the worst thing that can happen you don't like it after a bite or two and you send it back to the kitchen and order something diffrent. And remember you will not be charged for the first plate.

Enjoy.

The blackened catfish is the bomb!

My husband and teen son had the steak and let me have some. Best steak of the trip.

I second the catfish. It was great (it is spicy which I like). DH always gets the NY strip and says everytime how great it is. I've also gotten the king crab legs -YUM!. Both times I was going to order the seafood pasta, the waiters recommended something else. CR is one of our favorites and I can't imagine a trip without it!

I loved the Lobster soup and the mahi-mahi, yummy!!! DH and my mom had the sea and land and the didn't really enjoy it.
Enjoy

Hi
We had the best dinner at Coral Reef in December. The food and service was the best. My DH and I had the Mahi Mahi. I'm eat very little fish (and no meat), but the Mahi Mahi was just delicious. It doesn't even taste like fish. It comes some kind of light glaze on it. It's served with couscous, which we didn't want, so you can substitute potatoes. I'm going again in August and can't wait to get the Mahi Mahi again. Also, the chocolate wave is great!!

neither of my teen DDs are big seafood eaters. both had the chicken last summer and loved it. it was the most my youngest dd had eaten during any meal the entire 11 days we were there. it was her choice of resturant for us to go to this coming summer.

Thank you everyone!!!! I can't wait to eat here......don't know if any of these suggestions made my decission any easier but it sounds like whatever I choose it will be good!!!:goodvibes

I 3rd (or is it 4th, 5th, 6th....) the catfish recommendation. Had this on the waitress's suggestion in July, it did not disappoint!

My dilemma for our trip next week is whether to order the catfish, which I know I'll love, or get the crab legs (haven't had them in a long time, and I love crab meat) :confused3

The crab legs were not an option in July, but now......

We just returned and had a wonderful lunch at Coral Reef. Hubby had the pork chop and loved it. I had Maui Maui and daughters had talapia (sp?) we all loved them. The appetizers and desserts were wonderful and service was great. This was one of our best meals. We will definately go back.

Renee

We thoroughly enjoyed our evening at the Coral Reef in December. 3 of the 4 of us had the crab legs and they were outstanding. They are served cut down the center - so you're not spending the entire evening trying to get the succulent meat out of the legs. The serving was surprisingly quite generous! We'll be eating there again (and having the crab legs) in May.
