Hey DISers! This is a review from our June vacation so it's a little late!!
I've been in school and life has gotten a little crazy...now I'm on vacation and bored so I thought I might finish the dining reviews I meant to do in the summer.
So....first I'm going to write about CORAL REEF.
We were in Disney during the first week of June 09 to celebrate my sister's 19th birthday.
So it was me (Jess), birthday sis (Lindsay), and Mom. It was our first time going to Disney on the DDP and so we really excited to eat at more TS restaurants than usual. We decided to try Coral Reef for the first time b/c we had read and heard so many good things about it (plus we couldn't help remembering the proposal scene from Full House
) Actually, Lindsay and I didn't really want to try it but my mom did...so she got her way!
We had a 7pm reservation and showed up about 15 minutes early. We had to wait about 5-10 minutes and then were shown to our seats. We were seated in the back row (furthest from the aquarium) and right by the hallway where everyone was walking by. We were not happy about the seats so we asked the guy seating us (who was SOOO CUTE) if there were any other seats available b/c we were celebrating a birthday. He said he'd check and he came back in 3 minutes and said, "okay, follow me." He took us to the front row (right next to the aquarium)...the BEST SEAT in the house!
It was awesome! So of course, we said thank you a million times!
It just goes to show you, it never hurts to ask.
So we settled in and checked out the animals in the aquarium (my sis is a fisher so she had fun taking pics of the different fish). Our waiter came over and he was a super nice guy. The only problem with Coral Reef we realized was THE NOISE. The acoustics in that place must be horrible b/c it didn't seem like the other tables were extremely loud...but the noise overall was really bad.
We each ordered a specialty, non-alcoholic icey drink- I got the "lava" one (I think that's the name), my sis got the strawberry, and my mom got the pineapple. It was unanimous that my drink was the best since it was a mix between the pineapple and the strawberry. They both wished they had got mine.
We then ordered dinner: My sis and I got the salmon and my mom got the mahi-mahi. The fish were both very very good. The salmon came with asparagus and some circular shaped noodles in a good creamy sauce. The white fish came with rice and my mom really enjoyed it. (Sorry the pics are half-eaten...we were so hungry we forgot about pics until half way through!!) Overall, the food was delicious. mmm!
Finally, dessert!!
We all ordered the chocolate wave. The waiter was so sweet, he brought my sister's out with a candle, chocolate "happy birthday" and confetti on top of it. Wow, that dessert was delicious.
It was warm and the center was full of warm, liquid chocolate. If you like molten, lava cake, then you'll love the chocolate wave!
The waiter also brought Lindsay a light-up tinker bell that she could clip on to her pin lanyard or shirt...it was a really sweet idea. What a great guy- it's CMs like that that make Disney really magical
All and all, we left Coral Reef stuffed with great food. We are really liked it (I think I may have the most) and we are going back there this summer. I will probably order the exact same meal from start to finish.
Lol, when I find something I like, I tend to stick with it.
I'd definitely suggest trying the Coral Reef...the only downside to whole place is the noise level. However, if you don't mind a little noise and you like seafood, I think you'll love Coral Reef.
Enjoy!!
