Coral Reef Restaurant - Diver/menu - Discontinued for 2009

I emailed her on Monday and had a response by Tuesday. I sent a second message on Wednesday and had an immediate response.

When are you trying to get the diver for? 2008? I emailed Debbie about 6 weeks ago, she told me that they would not be taking 2009 diver requests until December. I have also read this on other threads.

No. My request was for December 2008 (and I got both the diver and menus). She was super quick with her responses and very cordial.

My reservation is also in December 2008? Now I am totally confused about this. I have sent at least 5 e-mails in the last month and nothing. What am I doing wrong? I forgot to mention that I also called Coral Reef and left 2 messages.

does anyone know if its disney divers that hold up the signs or do they get the divequest divers to do it? i'm doing divequest on the 13th november if anyone cant get a diver but wants a wave!!

That's strange. Perhaps something isn't quite right with the email address that you are using? If you would like to PM me I can give you the address that I used.

I think that if the divequest divers are in the tank they ask if anyone wants to do it, otherwise it is a Disney diver...when they did mine last year the Disney diver carried the sign but a couple of the divequest divers came down to the glass and waved also

I don't think you there is any reason to PM the email for Coral Reef... Debbi had asked a few months back to not post her phone # on here but this is the info she needs when you email her

I called the Coral Reef # and an automated message gave me this email for "personalized menus". I sent in my request and Debbi responded to me just hours later. I didn't even ask for a diver (I didn't want to be a pest, I just really wanted the menu!), and she booked a diver for me!

I just called Coral Reef and spoke to a wonderful guy asking info on the diver/personalized menus. Our reservation isn't until 9 p.m. on 12/19 and he said the divers usually take their last dive around 7 p.m. so we couldn't request the diver but still could request the personalized menus. I was happy with that, at least. He gave me the email address (same as above post) and said to include name, date of reservation & time, include up to 6 pictures in email and include what the text would be (Happy Birthday, etc.).

Not sure if this is different than what anyone else has been given as far as info but hope it helps!

I was just wondering, my hubby and I are going to Coral Reef on our anniversary, and i was wondering if there was any way i could get one of the divers to have a sign saying happy anniversary i love you etc. Does any one know if this is even possible and if so, how I could get this arranged?? I think it depends on when you are going? I think it's been posted here that Debbi has stated they may not be doing this in 2009?

I just called the WDW Dine number and after being on hold for 12 min, being disconnected and then trying again (this time it took 10 minutes for an answer), I was told that the program had been discontinued. We are going in January. Has anyone else had this response for '09?

If this is true I would be very sad! My trip is in February. When I called Debbi told me that they were not taking 2009 requests until December. I hope the CM you spoke to was misinformed. Did you try calling the Coral Reef directly?

We are going in January and I was told the same thing. The diver program was only in place for the "Year of a million dreams" and they weren't sure what would happen after the year was over or if they would be re-newing thier contract with the divers. I pretty much decided it wasn't going to happen after talking to one of the managers. I was going to have the diver tell my kids that they were going on a surprise cruise the next day but now I have to think of something else....

gary4jenn, are they discontinuing the personalized menus also? That would be a great way to tell your kids about the cruise.

I didn't ask about that part- I wanted to see their expressions when the diver swam up and showed them the sign so the menu was kinda an extra thing for me. We decided not to go to CR rest now because we only have 1 park day and we want to max out our time so we are skipping any sit down rest so we can do more rides and attractions. Thanks for the idea but I am trying to figure something else out for us- maybe something at Holly studios since we will eb starting our day there.
