Despite some mixed reviews on here, I've decided to risk it and make ressies for Coral Reef. My question is, for anyone who's dined there and had a good experience, what would you recommend as a good dish? (And, for anyone who's hated it, what should we avoid? I guess that's two questions. :))

I had the chicken and thought it was great.

My mother got the steak and it was cooked perfect and tasted great too.

I have heard this place is a hit or miss thing but we all enjoyed our meal when we were there in October.

I really did like the blackened catfish but I understand it's off the menu.

all of us in our party all agree that the steak was just as great here as it was at Le Cellier

I am always surprised to read how people tear apart Coral Reef. We went in Oct 2007 and thought it was great. Had steak and shrimp which was very good. This was one of the highlights of the trip.

LOVE the steak.

We had a bad experence there YEARS ago but took another chance and now love it.

I've eaten here a boatload of times and have probably tried everything on the menu. My favorite is the mahi mahi.

The NY strip steak is really good. For dessert try the Baileys and Jack Chocolate mousse, it is soooo yummy!!!

Another vote for the steak. My DS15 also really liked a halibut dish he had that was the catch of the day and the lobster bisque. For desert, the creme brulee is outstanding.

I was just there 2 weeks ago. I had the seasonal catch of the day which turned out to be grouper. It was served over a scallop risotto and was very good. The lady next to me ordered it as well and she loved hers. There's a review with pictures in my link below.

DD7 ordered the kids mahi mahi and she loved hers as well.

No matter what you order for entree, get the lobster soup for an appetizer, and the Bailey's and Jack mousse for dessert.

I agree that the Bailey's and Jack mousse is wonderful. Probably one of my favorite desserts that I tried at WDW.

I ordered Mahi Mahi, and my husband did too. He liked it okay, but I didn't care for mine. HOWEVER, I don't like fish in general. :) So my opinion doesn't hold much weight. I just thought it would be weird to order chicken or steak or something at a seafood restaurant, so I gave it a try. I wish I had liked it more because you can't beat the atmosphere of the restaurant, but the menu doesn't make me want to visit again, personally.

The Mahi-Mahi is wonderful. The sauce on the rice was so good I wanted to lick the bowl when I was done. :)

DH would agree. The Mahi-Mahi is wonderful but the cashew-jasmine rice that is served with is amazingly delightful!
I love the Grilled New York Strip Steak. Very tender and had excellent flavor.
This past June I had lobster ravioli. It was excellent! TONS of sweet lobster meat in the ravioli as well as large pieces of it in a very nice sort of spicy red sauce with capers . I really enjoyed it.

We all LOVE the creamy lobster soup. I actually like this more than the Cheddar Cheese soup at LeCeller! :duck:

The Butterscotch Cremé Brulée is one of my favorites!
:goodvibes

I'll add my vote for the Mahi Mahi. DD8 and DS6 also had the children's Mahi Mahi and ate every bite.

DH had the blackened catfish and thoroughly enjoyed it. Too bad if it's not on the menu anymore.

I agree. Didn't know they took it off then menu though :(

OMG!!! They took the CATFISH off the menu!!! Are you serious!?!!?!?!?!? I loved that stuff so much, I learned to make it myself!!! We eat it AT LEAST one time per month!!!! This is an outrage!

I love the Mahi Mahi.
The chocolate wave is a great dessert if you are a chocolate lover.
The lobster bisque is also excellent, but very rich. Two of my kids got some with their kids meals that we shared. 1/2 portion was just right.

I also want to join in on the outrage over the blackened catfish!
