Coral Reef Question - Shrimp and Pasta

We ate at CR last summer and really liked it. Of course my favorite dish, the crab cake is gone from the menu now. Has anyone tried the Shrimp and Pasta? Any reviews of that dish? If not I guess I'll go with the steak since everyone seems to rave about it. Also, has anyone tried the new desserts. I have my mouth set for the pineapple upside down cake but that seems to have bitten the dust too!

DH got the shrimp pasta dish in December...I tried a bite-we both thought it was totally gross.

Another thing-the seafood souffle-ugh! Really gross! It looked like white cat food dumped out of a can and tasted soooo nasty.

I'm sure there is someone out there who loves these items...but we didn't.

Overall, we were not happy with Coral Reef's food. The atmosphere was really cool though. Thank goodness I did get the Chocolate Wave for dessert-now, that was yummy!

I read quite a few reviews of Coral Reef when planning our meals for our Feb trip and almost everyone who mentioned the shrimp pasta meal said it was horrible. We ended up eating there and definitely didn't get that!!!
However, the food we got was delicious, especially the cajun catfish with cheese grits -yum o!

i had it with chicken instead of shrimp and rather enjoyed it. loved the sauce.

I had the shrimp pasta and it was NOT good. No sauce and very bland. See my link below for my dining review; Coral Reef is on page 2 (there is a picture of the shrimp pasta). We ate at 10 TS restaurants in September, and Coral Reef was the ONLY one we hated.

I got it too last month- I did not like it at all. I plucked all the shrimp out and ate the shrimp.

I like it! We tried the shrimp and pasta in February and I did not like it. It was the linguini pasta and didn't like the sauce at all. So we just got back from our April/May trip and the menu changed AGAIN. This time the shrimp and pasta is/was really good. It had the penne pasta and sun-dried tomatoes in a cheesy/alfredo sauce with lots of large shrimp. It was so much better than the previous pasta/shrimp dish they had in February. So disregard any of the other posts regarding folks who ate the pasta dish before the recent April menu change. The Prime Rib is gone and the deserts have changed. We passed on the wave and got the chocolate Jack Daniels Mousse and it was so good we had it a second time during that trip. Also, what you may not be seeing is that the menu for lunch has changed too, but no one seems to have it posted yet. It includes a lobster salad on a toasted french bread. It sounds yummy and includes soup. I got home a couple of weeks ago and was surprised when I saw the dinner menu had indeed been updated, but the lunch menu has not. I couldn't believe the menu had changed. We ate there in October 06, then the menu was different for Feb 07, then again changed for our April 07 trip. We were told that since alot of their food is seasonal the menu changes more often that other places. So the folks who had the shrimp and pasta (linguni style -- yuck), it has changed to the new penne pasta and shrimp. The server knew I had had the previous version and came back and asked me how I liked the new pasta selection and I told him it was much better and he agreed. We ate at the Coral Reef twice this trip and found both times to be the highlight of our dining experiences and we had the best service out of the 12 places we ate this trip (except Narcossess, which we ate at twice and had WONDERFUL service--and had the same server TWICE!!)

BTW: DH has the pan seared Tuna and said it was excellent! Smoothies were included and I had the strawberry stingray and it was the best smoothie I've ever had!! With a little rum it would've been perfect!
