Can we request a table NOT in view of the fish tanks? DS's GF was a vegetarian and just started eating fish. I'm thinking she might not want to watch her lunch swimming around.
Sure- I'm sure there are more requests to sit near. Also, we've been sat in the back in a booth. While you can see the tanks, you aren't right in front of them.
We were way at the back and if anything our view of the tanks was better than those right up at the glass.
It’s an awkward restaurant for vegetarians and vegans.
Unsolicited thoughts about the situation....If someone is eating fish now, IMO, they need to own it. If she’s feeling weird about it, maybe reversing the decision is best?
You don't have to be a vegetarian to feel uncomfortable looking at fish swimming around while you are eating seafood. I'm not a vegetarian but it always bothers me to see live animals while I am eating said animal. The state fair is always the worst for me when it comes to this. Go look at the cute little lambs and them head outside to buy yourself a nice lamb burger. No thanks.
Coral Reef fits perfectly into our day at Epcot. We have an early lunch ADR after which we will have a Frozen FP. I'm trying to avoid having to rush through Future World to get to a lunch ADR in WS. I'm going to have to decide between dining experience and efficiency of park touring though.

We want to eat an early lunch, before noon, since we have a 6:40 Chef's ADR and I want those meals spaced out. Ideally we would eat lunch in FW and then do a few more things there before heading into WS. It's probably not going to work out that way though. I think we're going to have to do some back tracking.
Why not try for a reservation at garden grill? Plan to eat there before or after soarin and I'm sure someone who is still mostly vegetarian would love the meal.
Have you checked with DS's GF to make sure that she would like to go to Coral Reef? Just because she recently started eating fish doesn't necessarily mean she'd like fish at any particular meal. You might consider Tangierine Cafe in Morocco for lunch. It's QS, lots of vegetarian options, and it's very pretty there. And lots of food for omnivores as well.
Im not sure is this helps but in one of Olivers recent vlogs they went to Coral Reef and one of the guys would not get fish while watching them swim around. Their server told them that they do not have any of the same species of fish in the aquarium as they serve. Again not sure if that would make her feel any more comfortable.
