We are off to the World in a few weeks and are trying to decide between the Coral Reef and Teppanyaki for dinner at Epcot. We have two girls, 7 and 3 that and some non-character entertainment is a factor.Any suggestions or preferences between the two? Thanks!

Both have their plusses...the tank at Coral Reef and the entertaining chefs at Teppanyaki. I would go with Teppanyaki. It is our kids favorite WDW restaurant (they are now 10 & 8 but loved Teppanyaki when they were younger as well).

I guess it comes down to what you would prefer to eat. If you are going for the seafood go to Coral Reef (although you can get seafood at Teppanyaki too) and if you prefer chicken or beef go to Teppanyaki.

You can see the menus for each at www.wdwig.com

Hope that helps.

We took my dd when she was 2 1/2 to both - I think she liked teppanyaki better because the problem with Coral Reef is that we weren't up against the tank (even though I requested it when making PS) we were in the 3rd row, so it was almost too far away to keep her attention. The food was great at both - if you go to Coral Reef request being up against the tank and wait if possible for an available table there (it would have been an addl 1/2 hr wait - if I had known, I would have waited).

I think you will be hard pressed to find to many people that would pick the Coral Reef over Teppanyaki. We go to Disney at least once a year and we never go to Coral Reef. We have been there once and did not enjoy there food. Teppanyaki on the other hand is one of our favorites.

IMO, Coral Reef is great for lunch, but way too pricey for dinner. Also agree that if you don't get by the tank, don't bother. The best way to insure this is to get the first PS time for whichever meal--then check in 15 minutes earlier than that.

We really enjoyed Teppanyaki (4 late 20s adults). Very good, entertaining (the chef) and overall a good value. I have lurked around this board for years and most people do not seem to be pleased with dinner at Coral Reef - if you check out the menu at www.wdwig.com, you will see that it is VERY expensive. not sure if it is worth it. If you want to try coral reef, go for lunch.

Have fun!

Teppanyaki is the our one MUST DO restaurant every trip. Our kids really enjoy it, and the food is healthful and delicious. The shop downstairs is wonderful for browsing. We rarely buy anything, but the assortment of goods is quite interesting. We like Coral Reef, too, but it's not one of our top choices.

Faced the same choice and decided on the Teppanyaki as I figured if we were not close to the tank than 3 1/2 yr old DS would have just seen it as a regular dinner. At Japan, he is guaranteed to have a front court seat

Thanks
Jason

Lodge--

Our kids, 8 and 12 (although they've both been going since they were little) always want to go to Coral Reef. The view is good whether you're right up on the tank or back a few rows. They have redone their menu in the last couple years...the food is very good and the staff seems to make a bigger fuss over the kids than in the past (may be my imagination, because I like CR a lot myself). As to CR being pricey, this seems to me to be a fairly fine point after you've already paid $50 a head to get in the gates and you've committed yourself to an expensive restaurant one way or another.
