Coral Reef for lunch

We've eaten here 3-4 times for dinner and always loved it. (I know, I know - it's not a DIS darling, but we like it!) Anyway, I saw the lunch menu, and to be honest the side dishes don't thrill me. I loved their potatoes au gratin from before, but the newest sides seem unappealing to me. I like the mahi mahi but the jasmine rice sounds unappetizing to me. Does anyone know if you can still get the potatoes gratin or another potato dish? I'd be willing to try risotto, plain or fried rice, or even something more adventurous. I just saw there are roasted potatoes, so I could have those. My niece loves fish, but she also loved dinosaurs (she's 3), so we made a reservation for T-Rex just in case. I need to cancel one soon (we go in May), but I'm not sure which one. Thoughts on Coral Reef for lunch would be most appreciated.

I've been there many times. It seems that you either love it or hate it. With that being said, I have never had good results from the "lunch" menu. Unfortunately, I can't explain why.... And, you are correct about this not be a "DIS Darling", but I keep going back - for dinner... not for lunch. Again, very sorry - I just can't explain why... it's just the way it's been for me....

I have to agree. The one lunch we had there was nothing to write home about. Pretty cool atmosphere, but the food fell way short.

You should be able to. I miss the brocolinni, but was able to sub in potatos with my steak when I was there for lunch at New Years.

I always like dinner, but the lunch menu leaves me wanting. I think we'll probably stick with T-Rex. After all, we've been to CR before, and T-Rex is new!

Thanks. That kind of confirms what I'm thinking.

Good to know for future visit, be they this year or another year.

We had lunch at Coral Reef just last month. We had an ADR and by the time it came around we were pretty hungry but still wanted something light. We both ordered the lobster salad with lobster soup (like a bisque). When it was brought to the table we were very displeased with the portion size. The salad was the size of a small mashed potato scoop on a very small bed of greens, and the soup portion seemed smaller than that.

I have to say that even though the portions were not what we expected the food was very good.
