We just returned from Disney and had PS for 2:00 seating at Coral Reef. Great atmosphere, lousy food. My nephew and I ordered the Seafood Melody on Ravioli. It was nasty. When I saw it said "seafood" I was picturing shrimp, scallops, clams, NOT mystery dark fish clumps floating in sauce, and what they call Ravioli is actually a bottom and top square piece of pasta almost like a thin piece of lasagna. Nothing, like salad or veggie came with this meal and it was $16.00. Needless to say, we didn't eat it, but the bread was very good, although spending $16.00 for two rolls is a little much.
If you go to this restaurant make sure you get a detailed description from the waitress on what your ordering.

You had a bad experience at Coral Reef,DW and I had had some great meals at Coral Reef. Don't give up on it, next time if you get something you dislike, tell your server and I'm sure he will offer you another menu selection or adjust your bill.If he doesn't don't hesitate to ask to speak to the manager.

I actually had a really great beef dish at the Coral reef last time I was there-lol. Sorry you had a yucky meal.

ddgirl - sorry you did not like it. My DH and I were just there and we had the same thing! It was heavenly! Those dark clumps were grilled tuna and also there was salmon which was tasty and we had shrimp and calamari and the sauce was so light and tasty....oh well didn't tastes for different folks. Here is a picture of our food! We also had the jumbo pan-seared sea scallops and lobster bisque soup. I would try it again and try something else. Next time ask exactly how the dish is prepared and what type of seafood is in it and then you won't be disappointed!

We also had a dismal(read-Yuck!) experience at this restaurant. We paid a lot for a poor meal but we did enjoy sitiing close to the aquarium. I would never go back for fear of a repeat and I don't think that it was one or two off courses. We ordered a total of 4 appetizers, 4 entrees and 4 desserts. The desserts had the artificial whipped topping that they use in the KoKo Puffs at the Poly(verified w/the chef) and the the whole thing, well.... Our visit was 18 months ago and I certainly would try it again if the kitchen staff or menu changed. I think there are better seafood restaurants in the World. Threehearts

The kitchen staff is the same but the executive chef is new and the menu is wonderful in my opinion. Yes, there are things on it that I wouldn't eat, but if you consult with your server and ask detailed questions you won't be disappointed.

The scallop appetizer pictured earlier in this thread is fantastic and I also highly recommend the grilled mahi on wasabi mashed potatoes. I hate that kind of fish, usually, but the sauce it was in and the freshness of the fish made me actually come back another day for more.

Don't be afraid to send something back if you don't like it. I have done this on many occasions at restaurants all over WDW. They will make it right for you and there is no need to pay for a meal that you cannot eat for any reason.

As for desserts I have only ever had the sorbet and the chocolate wave, both of which are superb.

Linda
