Coral Reef - can we pay cash for kids?

We will be on the regular Dining Plan. After looking at the menu, I know my daughter will not touch anything on the adult dinner menu. Also, she's 11.

Would they allow us to pay cash and let her have a kids' meal?

All the other places we have on our Dining Plan are for buffets.

When I was 13 and my sister was 11, we went there because I was dying to eat there after I'd seen it on tv. They let both of us order off the kids menu. Of course that was about 14 years ago LOL.

Im pretty sure they will let you use a TS credit for a kids meal for her if you wanted to, or if you'd rather save the credit and pay OOP that is fine too!

The experience at Coral Reef is definitely not to be missed!

Last year we paid oop for DD11 at the Coral Reef and a few other places. It's so worth it for the 3 of us. If you do it at 2 restaurants, that's 2 TS credits you can use at a third restaurant! Crazy cool!

I'll pay cash for her and for our youngest. Then I can use their DDP credits towards Tusker while I pay cash there for hubby & I.

If you are paying for something, they will let you. Just explain to the servers that the child does not care for the selections and would prefer a kids meal, and you're going to purchase it out of pocket. Be sure to watch what they ring on the receipt though. I'd ask for a separate ticket for the OOP meal too.

If they give you a problem when you want to order a kids meal for someone older than 9 just ask for a manager. In the 5 years I've been doing this at Disney restaurants I have only had to request a manager once.

You actually don't have to ask for a separate check (ticket) for cash purchases vs. DDP purchases in any restaurant. It's automatic. "We'll be using Dining Plan Credits for my spouse and me, and paying cash for the childrens' meals" is sufficient. The system is set up, and the servers trained, to automatically generate separate checks in this instance.
