Anyone know how to make the copyright symbol? Do you hold down the alt key and then some numbers?

I want to add a watermark to some photos. Thanks in advance!

Alt and 0169 Also I have found it needs to be on a number key pad, the numbers on the top of the keyboard don't work.

alt-0169 for a PC; alt-G for a Mac.

Another reason to switch to a Mac;)

lets see, hit 3 extra buttons, or spend 3 times as much money :confused3

I actually might concider a mac, but I am too heavely invested into windows software. It's like switching camera makers after having a bunch of lenses, not impossible, but you need a really compelling reason.

probably asked and answered a million times before but don't you actually have to register something someplace to get a copy right? in other words if i just type a few numbers on my photo does that make it actually copyrighted

the pic is automatically copyrighted the moment you trip the shutter.

adding the copyright/watermark helps build your case in court...

actually registering the pic in DC further builds your case in court, but isn't neccessary

typing a few numbers means nothing...

A proper notice has the © mark, or word "Copyright" or abbreviation "Copr."; the year, and the name of the owner. For example, if this author took and published a photo in 2000, it might be marked "© 2000 David L. Amkraut" or "Copyright 2000 David L. Amkraut" or "Copr. 2000 David L. Amkraut." You can add "All Rights Reserved" if you want-it has no real significance in the U.S. and most countries but has a bit in several 3rd world countries.

The commonly-seen parenthesis "(c)" instead of the proper copyright mark "©" has no legal significance and may invalidate the notice.

okay - I tried this just for fun to see if I could make that cute little symbol :goodvibes All that happened for me were a series of beeps and a few numbers would pop up! No symbol -:headache: - oh, it also take dexterity to push all those numbers at once!!!:rotfl:

You don't have to press all of them at the same time, and as Gregg said, you need to use the number pad, not the numbers across the top.

Gregg - most of the stuff I cared about, I was able to get the companies to give me the mac software free with valid serial numbers from my original purchases. Even PS will do that for you - you have to call and send them a letter saying you won't use the Windows version but it was easy and painless.

For me, the switch was a dream - the Mac is so much more intuitive and easy to use - and I hate the times I have to use my husband's PC for things. And, yes there are times I have to use it because some things I have to do on the web want Internet Explorer and won't even work with Firefox. We also kept our Quicken and TurboTax stuff with the PC because with Quicken, it apparently is a nightmare to transfer information from Windows to a Mac. With the new Intel-based chips, that probably isn't an issue anymore and now that I have Leopard, I could run Windows programs but since I don't have to, I don't want to mess up my computer with Windows programs.

Press and hold the alt button then on the number pad, hit the 0-1-6-9 keys in order and release the alt button. If your using a laptop or keyboard that does not have a number pad, the most of them will have a numlock key you can hit first that will turn part of your keyboard into a number pad in my case it is 7-0 on the top, u-p on the middle j-; on the lower middle and m-/ on the bottom.

So © is the result :)

Just imagine if you had copyrighted the little c with the circle around it. You'd have a piece of just about everything.
