Copyright of Pictures I've Taken

Does anyone know the copyright rules of the pictures I've personally taken? I'm not looking to sell my pictures but merely use them in a grad school project on digitization. I'd be uploading them into Islandora. I want to focus on food, so there will be no characters, signs, or anything that I think would cause an issue. I've looked all over and can't find anything about whether it would be allowed, but my professor is a bit concerned.

You have nothing to worry about.

The only thing you normally need to be concerned with is people in your picture. If you intend to publish, you need their permission. The other thing would be if anything in your pictures is copyrighted by someone else.

The official definition is called Fair Use

You should be able to find a proper academic citation for the definition of fair use.
