Copying STVS dvd's

If you have a DVD burner, you can copy any type of DVD. :cool1:

STVS is a videographer(if thats what their called)

MEME.
I thought some dvds are copyrighted, so you can't sopy them?

Most DVD's are copyrighted, so your not supposed to copy them, but you still can if you have access to a DVD burner. Just don't advertise it! ;)

Tinkerbelle14 is correct...most if not all are copyrighted, just like music cd's, however, once you have purchased an original (dvd, cd) it's your to do with it what you will.

Legal issues only arise when you have not PURCHASED the item. Hence, "free downloading", "NAPSTER" "boot-legged movies" and the like.
;)

Actually, that's not exactly correct. The copyright violation comes when you copy something you own and then give/sell it to another person. You can make as many copies for your own personal, private use, but the moment you make a copy and give it to someone else, that you have violated the copyright laws. It does not matter if the item was given to another at no cost to them, it is still violating the laws.

To give some examples related to Disney weddings:

- You purchased the negatives from your photographer and would like to make copies. That is legal, because you own the copyright (negatives) to those photos.

- You purchased one copy of your wedding DVD from your videographer, but they own the copyright (you can ask them if they retain it, most do), you cannot legally make copies.

That said, I don't know if anyone who has been gone after for making copies of any of thier items, but keep in mind that your vendors most likely read this board and are aware of who thier customers are. :)

LOL Kristen I was just about to post exactly the same thing when I read this post.

Sam at the end of the day the choice is yours personally I really valued the work that Stan did for us and for the sake of a few extra dollars for extra DVD's I didn't feel like I wanted to short change him in that department - but each to their own.

And once again a timely reminder that this is a public forum that ALL the vendors; Disney Cast Members, photographers, florists, videographers etc etc can and to some of my knowledge DO read :)
