Coppertone Spectra3 SPF 50 compared to Banana Boat Sport SPF 50

Used Spectra3 spf30 for 8 days in wdw. Carried Bullfrog spf30 spray in my bag and re-applied to dd shoulders during the day. No burns (and my shoulders and neck tend to burn, but they didn't even though I didn't re-apply anything), and just very very light tans. The spectra3 was a little thicker but I don't think it made it harder to apply, on the contrary, it was easy to see if you missed a spot. I also liked that it was basically odorless, since I don't like smelling like cocoa butter, except on rare beach days. I highly highly recommend spectra3, and still have a full tube of my former favorite, coppertone's oil-free. I brought "for faces" for me, but we just ended up using the spectra3 on both of our faces with no problems.

hey dan, i'm glad my recommendation helped you! :)

i was recently in jamaica for a week, and i brought all three kinds of coppertone spectra with me (pink - babies, green - kids, white- adults). i didn't notice a difference between any of them. as far as i know, they could very well be exactly the same thing, just in different colored bottles. i never noticed that it was difficult to apply.

i also have very sensitive skin and none of these products have ever bothered me (even on my face). surprisingly, i did use the coppertone for faces one day and that hurt my face. go figure.

i have had skin cancer before and my dermatologist really recommends the spectra products. like dan said, you don't even get tan. i was in the water a lot in jamaica and i only had to reapply every couple hours or so.

Yeah, definitely sounds like a marketing thing though it seems to really make since...one for each age group and something that everyone can recognize. I am surprised Banana Boat has not yet come out with something like Coppertone's Spectra3.

However, after checking again it looks like they have....Banana Boat VitaSkin Advanced Sun Protection, SPF 50

Hey slitman. I was wondering, is this for actual use, like for a trip, or is it a research project on effective sunblocks or the like?? :)

And yes, Caity, I thank you for that heads up a few weeks back. :sunny:

Like everyone else on here, just for an upcoming trip and wanted to get feedback from others which is usually the most effective.

Wow, Slitman... do you research every aspect of your trip this intensely?? How long does it take you to pick your resort? :earseek:

Neat!!! Enjoy. :sunny: When is the trip? How long ya going for? Family?? WDW, USF?

Well, for me, it's Spectra 3D 50, all the way, good stuff.

All depends on your expectations.
