I was just curious if anyone has tried the Copper River Salmon at either the Flying Fish or California Grill? I was just curious what people's reviews were of that particular dish!

I have never had copper river salmon anywhere but at home. I usually buy when available at Costco or the hometown market. Copper River is a deep red fleshed salmon. I love the taste of the CR as compared to Columbia River spring chinook aka King salmon. Copper River is a bit spendy but well worth the extra money. The reason it has the deep red flesh is due to what it eats out in the ocean before it reaches the Copper River in Alaska. CR is caught in the lower portion of the river before it gets near the spawning beds. I think you will love this salmon. The season for CR is very short.

That's really interesting, Happy 2 B Me, I never knew that! (Then again, I'm not a fish aficionado :fish:) My DH loves salmon, and eats it out often when he travels. He did have the Copper River salmon at Artist Point a while back and enjoyed it. I love to try new things at Disney, so, op, I would try it! We've mostly had great meals at FF and CG.

Copper River Salmon is the BEST salmon. We used to buy a whole King and have a dinner party but then it got ridiculously expensive. Now we just buy a few pounds for the few weeks it's in season.

I finally got to try Copper River Salmon for the first time recently (not at WDW). I was....not thrilled. In all honesty, the restaurant was sort of unnecessarily pretentious and I didn't like a number of my plates, so it might have been the locale and not the fish.
