I live at the mouth of the Copper River basin and the first commercial opening for Copper River Salmon is tomorrow (Monday the 14th) morning. The first fish caught will be flying out on cargo jets parked at our airport tomorrow morning and afternoon, so the Copper River Kings and Reds are available on the market beginning tomorrow night. It's amazing to think that the fish caught in my backyard is going to be in Disney World by next weekend.

You have great taste. You can't beat a Copper River Red or King.

I'm so glad for this thread. We are eating at Artist Point on 5/24 in hopes of eating this salmon!

As I posted on this thread http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1451287 asking about Copper River salmon at Artist Point, our server at Artist Point told us last night that they will start having it next Saturday (8/19) and will have it for 6 weeks. So, assuming Flying Fish runs on the same schedule (and why wouldn't they?) they should have it next weekend as well.

I saw an ad in the Seattle paper today for a local restaurant serving Copper River salmon starting tomorrow, here anyway.

I didn't know Flying Fish also served the Copper River Salmon. When I was there last June, I had it at Artist Point, but it wasn't on the menu at Flying Fish. Do they serve it at Flying Fish every year?

We were at Artist Point last weekend, the chef said their restaurant would have the copper river salmon starting on May 19th, for approximately six weeks.

Didn't know Flying Fish carried it. We were there twice last week and nothing was mentioned..didn't think to ask...the crab cake and artisan cheese course was outstanding though.

Our grocery store ads (Portland area) have been advertising it will be available in a few days.
