Copper Creek

Copper Creek is a studio booking nightmare even at 11 months(and hard to book at the Holidays too). Its one of my favorite resorts but I wouldn't buy CCV until that issues resolves itself. Not for 188 bucks a point.
One could just get a guaranteed week and not worry about it.

The one bedrooms at Copper creek only allow for 4 people period. This was an issue for us. Most 1 beds either have sleeping accommodations for 5 or allow for you to bring the extra bedding for your 5th person-- not Copper Creek. For families with 3 kids Copper Creek is a bad buy for home resort.
Do you know why this is true? We just found this out and are struggling with our plans for the summer. Why the difference between "allowed, but we don't provide a bed" and "not allowed"? With Magic Bands and all, they really do know who all is in the room.

The studio is really tight. The Wilderness Lodge rooms were not large to begin with. However, for the 1BR, I don't understand the reasoning.

Unfortunately, I do not know why. But when we took a tour last September of Copper Creek, our guide did not point it out to us which is uncool I think considering we had our 3 kids with us. We are just lucky we resisted buying at the tour and started reading more when we got home. So now whenever anyone brings up CC on disboards I want to point out that the 1 bed does not allow for 5 so hopefully others do not end up disappointed. We would have been very annoyed had we purchased and found out afterwards. It is really a bit sleazy because why would anyone think a 1 bed would only accommodate 4? We were annoyed enough to also find that in many 1 beds we have to bring our own extra bed. Nuts really.

Bummer your guide wasn't upfront about this, just not a good way to operate, IMO but at least you figured it out. My one complaint to the guides provide very inconsistent basis and the information given upfront depends on the guide. I've actually written a "complaint" that they need to train the guides to give a certain set of information consistently.

With that being said my guide did point out it only slept 4 unless I went 2 beds at Copper Creek, but did try to convince me the point charts were aligned with demand, which absolutely they are supposed to be but aren't.

I agree about the lack of information. It is a really beautiful resort. We adore WL. I am not sure if you ended up purchasing there, but the upside is that the resort is gorgeous.

The CCV studios and 1BRs are among the smallest in DVC. The other units at similar size also only sleep 4.

Oh yeah I did purchase there myself because I had an attachment to that side of the MK resorts from my childhood and room size wasn't a huge issue on my end.

It is beautiful for sure and any change to another resort will be an every so often thing if available.

Since you are looking at booking primarily 1 bedrooms, I found it pretty easy to book a 1 bedroom most times of the year in the 11 month window. For the first few weeks of Dec, you are looking at booking at the 11 month exactly though. We bought CCV last year, since we fell in love the with Wilderness Lodge, with points to use for a 1 bedroom. I knew from the boards that the studios will be harder to come by and we like extra space. If you must get a studio, you could always get a GW and exchange your GW for a 1 bedroom as well. I am now second guessing whether we should've got a GW studio when we bought last year, but still happy with the CCV points.

I’m talking only about the 1BR. And I’m not arguing about capacity. I just wonder why some 1BRs allow one adult over capacity, and some don’t.

Likely because they post added the extra person to BCV, BWV, BRV (maybe a few others but I think this is all) during a reno. So they needed to include a 5th person in the 1 bedroom in order to not contribute further to the studio availability issue. So they allowed the 1 BRs to go to 5 without an additional sleeping location, since that would have involved reworking the kitchen footprint to get the 5th bed.

Those 1BRs allowed 5 prior to adding the murphy in the studio. It's just sort of how things panned out.

In most timeshares, studios tend to sleep 2.

Well I stand corrected. I guess it was "unofficially" allowed and only "officially" allowed, for DVC bookings, post refurb from what I just looked up on the boards. So that explains why the Boardwalk DVC rep told me post refurb they allowed it to be 5 in the studios and 1 beds. Though what is more interesting is on DVC's front site they don't explicitly state they allow 5 and only allow 5 to members (shows only during the booking process). Considering there is only a ~40 square foot difference between the 1 beds at CCV and SSR/BRV/BCV/BWV/AKVJambo it seems odd to not allow a 5th person as long as they provide the linens and considering it was always done at some "unofficial" level for those 1 beds it makes less sense now. It's also likely not a fire code issue either since they shove 6 people in a room about 120 square feet smaller at WL (deluxe rooms and what were mapped to the alternate studios at CCV).

We decided to purchase 125 points. I showed my wife the Rivera videos and pictures and she thought it looked too generic. We are patiently awaiting the paperwork to come in the mail.

Congratulations! CCV is very pretty and far from generic IMO.
