Its ridiculous that I cant make a reservation 11 months out at Copper Creek because of walkers. Not one week is available because of a day here or there each week being unavailable. The funny thing is I have a guaranteed week every year for Thanksgiving week but I cant even use it because the new DVC Sorcerers pass has that week blacked out. So now I have to move my week up and deal with frigging walkers . I believe its the only resort with this problem at the 11 month Window.

Why not just pick up the days that are available for now? Or save yourself some stress and put in a hold. It looks like the walkers are only grabbing a single day so in 24-48 hours the walking dead will have moved on and you can fill out your reservation.

PS, this is not the only resort this happens to.

Holes in prior weeks are not walkers....I'm sure there is walking for the 11 month date but that certainly isn't a CCV only issue. It's a busy time of year for booking and I'd guess a bunch of people are trying to walk for early December reservations. Nobody knows how many of the rooms are being walked vs rooms simply being booked for 11 month reservations. As an AKV owner who tries to book Value rooms, this is just normal.

I guess this wouldnt be a problem for me if Disney didnt Black out Thanksgiving week on the DVC Annual Sorcerers pass. I knew CCV had a problem with 7 month Reservations and its my favorite resort , So I bought there knowing I want to stay there every Thanksgiving. Hence my Guaranteed week. What a joke they made of me . Then try explaining this to my family.

They have to be walkers as they keep changing every week. What other explanation could there be ? And its all year long not just around popular times.

The only thing that shows possible walking is when the 11 month date is gone and then in the next day or two that day shows back up as available. If you're looking back at previous weeks those are beyond any walking and are just regular bookings/cancellations. But even when you see that happen it could just be one room showing back up (yes it could also be more). You could have have 10 people walking and that would still mean that 68 studios are simply being booked at 11 months (non-walkers). Even people who walk have to be able to get an 11 month reservation at some point.

Good luck with it all. I can't stand all the walkers/walking that goes on....We own at BWV and joined the walking club just to get a standard view 2 bedroom, since all of them are lockoffs/contain a standard studio. Std studios are always gone first, especially in the fall. BWV can be very hard to get any standard view rooms.
Thanksgiving is also our second most travelled time for us....or WAS. SO mad they blocked out those dates. We'll be adjusting for the future ....sorry about your situation with a fixed week. That sucks. Hope you'll be able to figure out better times to go. we are still need to follow a school schedule, but as soon as we don't, we plan to start going the week or 2 before Thanksgiving. Good weather, lower crowds, etc.

Well this has been a huge problem with CCV with how few studios they have and all the millions of points sold toward the cabins. This is one reason why I do not own there. We usually do not book at 11 months out, but do well before 7 months. It was a very poor choice for Disney to block out Thanksgiving instead of Easter. But honestly, I’m surprised that Thanksgiving wasn’t blocked out previously. CHEAPek just does what he wants and he doesn’t care as long as spending per guest is up.

I am sorry that the new pass rules have thrown a wrench in the plans.

Unfortunately, those block out dates are not something DVC controls.

But. As mentioned when you see things from previous weeks blocked, those are days that real people wanted.

When it’s only walkers, and not just too many owners without enough rooms, you can pick up the days to get what you want as the walkers go on by.

Hopefully, you get what you need soon!!

There should be no blockout dates for DVC owners; Theres only a specific amount of rooms available all year -( no different on holidays) for us to use. What are they saving by blocking out dates for us ?

That would defeat the whole point of having different levels of AP's. If someone chooses to buy the Sorcerer Pass then they know there are blackouts. Instead they would just need to buy the Incredipass to have access to those premium dates.

No it wouldnt. DVC owners are not buying 100s if not 1000's of points to be blocked out of specific times. We use more points as it is to visit at Peak times. If your gonna offer a perk to DVC owners then dont block out any dates. The general public should be blocked out of Peak dates to keep the traffic down. DVC members never increase traffic at the parks. There are only a certain amount of DVC rooms available and it never changes from one day to the next.

I have the same issue. Did you write to DVC Member Satisfaction? I did to express my upset (as well as to my Guide) as I also have a Thanksgiving FW and historically Disney had never blocked out Thanksgiving. They did call me back to discuss, so I at least felt heard and that they’d advocate for me with Disney ticketing. But I hear you. I’m still pretty mad about it and hoping it is fixed for 2022.

Historically Disney had never blocked out Thanksgiving week from lower tier APS, though. This is the first year they’ve done so. So I think it’s fair for owners who have FWs over Thanksgiving who no longer get discounts on top level APs, and who could historically used Gold/Sorcerers Pass, to be upset at this change, especially when having paid a premium for a fixed week. For our family, we’re talking about a difference of $2,470.80 from 2020 to 2021 to go the parks now during my fixed week.

The perk is access to the Sorceror pass which is a pass with blackouts (just like it is for FL residents). That doesn't mean you have to buy that pass. Members are already visiting during blackouts so they are either buying the appropriate AP or tickets for those dates which cost more. There have always been blackouts to the Gold pass, the dates of the blackouts have just changed.

Correct me if Im wrong but the Gold Pass or DVC pass has never had a blackout date before.

While it sucks for people who haven't been blocked in the past, blackouts are subject to change. There are also people who benefit from the change. You paid a premium to ensure that you didn't have to compete for those reservations, that's all. It's just like point reallocation....they help some people and hurt others.

Members with Gold AP vouchers, which became Sorcerer passes when activated, who had booked Thanksgiving week at DVC resorts and made park pass reservations for those Thanksgiving dates before the new APs and blockout dates were announced were given park hopper tickets for those dates in 2021, because when they made their DVC reservations and park pass reservations they couldn't have known those dates would be blocked out from their APs. In 2022 and beyond, if Thanksgiving remains blocked out, it does indeed impact owners of Guaranteed Weeks, since they could not have known when they bought that week that it would be blocked out from the DVC discounted AP. I don't know what DVC could do about it, but if I were affected, I'd definitely let DVC Member Satisfaction know, as @Lorana did.

Gold APs, which were available only to DVC members or FL residents, were blocked out for two weeks at Christmas and a week or two around Easter. The Sorcerer pass dropped the Easter blockout and added the Thanksgiving one.
