Advantages and disadvantages between studio,1 or 2 bedroom? Newer or in need of refurb either of them?

I've only stayed at CC but it is new. It's in the main WL building
BRV is next door and older.
I loved the CC studio

They are both beautiful, IMHO. If you want to be closer to the action (lobby, restaurants, main pool), I would go with CCV.

BRV has slightly bigger rooms (ever so slightly) and different layouts for each, similar to BCV and BWV rooms if you've stayed in them. The last refurb of the BRV units was done cheap to put it politely and that has caused the units to really show their age. Sometime this year they will start a full refurbishment that is expected to last 1-1.5 years. So depending when you go you may enjoy something quieter at CCV if construction is going on (opposite the expectation since CCV is in the main lodge).

Personally I prefer CCV even if the rooms are smaller; I personally believe the layout is much more efficient. CCV you really give up kitchen space a lot in the 1 & 2 beds. However, in CCV you get slightly better balconies (goes across living and bedroom area). Below are the sizes of each room and the guests they sleep:

BRV

Have only stayed at BRV because we love it there so much. The layout suits us, especially the kitchen and bathroom area of the one-bedroom. We like having a laundry in room, it is so convenient and allows for less luggage. I don’t want to spend my vacay at the laundromat, so a 1-bedroom it is.

Stayed at both. Own at BRV. Copper Creek is nicer in my opinion only because it's newer.... that might change with the upcoming refurb though.

Both are great choices because they share all the splendor of the lodge. It’s VWL (BRV) for me if I have to choose. Closer to the workout room too!
