I have never stayed at VWL and right now both Copper Creek and Boulder Ridge studios are available for our January dates. It will be 2 adults, either my self and DH or myself and DD. We like to be near the action and prefer AKL Jambo over Kidani. Are there differences in activity levels at these resorts like AKL? Any differences in the studios? Thanks in advance for any help.

CCR is in the original WL hotel, with all the shops, restaurants, bars, etc... BRV has none of these.

BR is quieter than the main lodge, lots of interesting stuff in the lobby pertaining to trains/Walt Disney. The room decor is more northwest woods style, done well IMO. We own there and have enjoyed visiting many times, haven't booked since the construction started.

That said, I'd like to try CCR to stay in main lodge for the first time and experience the different decor, which I find interesting.

IMO you really cannot go wrong with either :)

I this YouTube explains the background differences between the main lodge, Boulder Ridge Villas and Copper Creek Villas and Cabins. Disney Imagineering came up with a great spin on the different building designs.

Also if you really enjoy staying at Jambo House over Kidani Village I would stay at Copper Creek, because Boulder Ridge has the quiet ambience similar to Kidani (or maybe it is really vice versa).

False.

Owners at BRV have full access to shops, Restaurants, Bars, and all shared facilities at the WL.
And a Question? Are you an Owner?

Not false, all those items are in the main lodge side, there are none on the BRV side. Have you been there? I have owned there for 13 years, I know what is there, do you?

The OP wanted to know what is in each resort.

Unlike Kidani, the Boulder Ridge villas are literally a few minutes walk to the main Lodge building with all the amenities and food options. I think there really is very little difference at Wilderness Lodge between the two DVC options on that front. Instead, look at the room configurations and decor - decide on that basis, plus Boulder Ridge villas at the end of the DVC building are going to be quieter than CCV villas.

Though you appear to have made a choice, I will say you would find little difference between the two. As others have noted, the new Copper Creek is in the main building so very quick access to the restaurants, shop, main pool, and a bit closer to the boat dock. Alternately, VWL(yeah, no, not calling it BRV) sits right beside the main building, so it might take you an extra couple of minutes to get to Artist Point, WCC, Territory Lounge, and the Mercantile. However, VWL does sit a bit closer to the new pool and Geyser Point. They are equidistant from the bus stop (I'd actually argue that VWL is slightly closer). The Copper Creek rooms will be newer, so that's a plus, but the layout, size, and decor with them I don't like as much as VWL. Again, you can't go wrong with either.

One might read that these facilities are on, and FOR some sort of CCR "side". I don't get the idea of "side" - these are shared facilities, just as Sturdy Branches is a Shared Facility, and the new Pool is a Shared Facility. Neither are on anyone's "side" :). We really don't have three resorts - just facilities in different sections of WL :).

Why this is important: No access has been removed from existing BRV Owners for these shared facilities. A number of BRV folks (my wife and I included) worried about the potential for some sort of unilateral contract change. So far? None have occurred :).
BRV owner five years ... and hitting break even in six :).

This is the same as BC/BCV. DVC uses the BC for everything and BCV owners pay for the shared facilities/services.

It's a different set up compared to Jambo/Kidani. Think of it more like GF with all their outer buildings with rooms or Poly/PVB. All one common resort but not everything has an indoor connector. There is a covered walkway from VWL to the main WL/CCV building that lobby to lobby take approx a minute - maybe two if you stop to admire the Mickey Topiary. And like Sleepy said the buses are closer to VWL than the main building - or at worst the same distance. The boat is further away but the new pool will be closer and GP just as close as from the main building.

The studios however are different - different decor and a little different layout. At VWL the rooms are the fairly standard layout and now have a queen bed, sleeper sofa and the murphy bed with attached table.

At CCV it's the queen bed, sleeper sofa but no murphy bed - just a small stand alone table. You do have a choice of a walk in shower at CCV though or else the tub/shower combo that you will find in all the studios at VWL other than accessible rooms.

Coper Creek is the one that has just been reopened as a DVC. We are staying there for the first time since remodel in August. VWL is just a short covered walk from Copper Creek.

If you like to sit out on the balcony I would pick Copper Creek, The balconies are much more private. The balconies at Boulder ridge are totally open. No privacy at all!!
