Copper Creek Cabins vs Polynesian Bungalows

I had an opportunity to tour the brand new Cooper Creek Cabins and they were awesome. I really liked these cabins and in my opinion, are much nicer than the Polynesian bungalows and they are cheaper per night to stay there too.

This is not a full review, just some of the things that I noticed and are my OPINION (not facts)

The quality of the furnishings and the building construction seemed better in the cabins, the layout seemed more open and better, and the outside patio is far superior, the plunge pool is actually heated, the outdoor patio seating is very large, and there are no boat horns blasting every morning and night. It just seems much more relaxed, quiet and serene in the cabins. The kitchen had an island and the dining room table was more efficient. The windows on the living room wall looking out to the patio let in lots of natural light. I totally loved the screened in patio for this area.

I do like the poly bungalows, but think the Cooper creek cabins offer a better vacation for me as they cost less and are more relaxing. I also like the location where it feels integrated into the resort, where the bungalow are sorta separated like an elitist colony on a bridge blocking the view of everyone else. You feel like a fish in a fishbowl in the bungalows. However, I do love the fireworks in the bungalows and I do like access to the monorail, and I love the dole whips and trader sams.

The hot tub with railing to enter does it for me! Also, the wonderful woodland ambiance of WL area. We have a weekend stay in a cabin in December, I expect it to be amazing!

Oh yes, the fireplace! Wow!

My only negative might be if you get a cabin towards either end of the string. The end towards the monorail beam is across from the island and IMO doesn't have much of a view. The other end seems pretty far from WL.

I wonder about the noise for the cabins on the western side of Wilderness lodge, beyond the hotel wing. If I remember rightly the water taxis blow their horns while they are right in front of a cabin, around the middle of the cabins. Also do the taxis use lights on the front of the boat to see where they are going at night? If so won't those headlights shine into the cabins as the boat makes it's turn to head toward's the dock?

Of course, the positive about these cabins is that they should have great views of the monorail and fireworks at MK and some should see Cinderella's Castle. And for some guests having the water taxis go by will be another bit of Disney entertainment.

Thanks for the review, I was wondering about the comparison myself. I also have a question regarding the locations. There are 26 cabins, correct? Do the cabins on the west side have a MK/fireworks view? Can you get golf carts like at the campgrounds or other transportation from the furthest cabin to the main building? What about the furthest east cabins? Are they completely quiet and "remote"? is there ample space between the cabins? How close is the furthest east cabin from the Campgrounds? Do the cabins have any noise from the sanitation system like the Bungalows? I believe there is parking for the cabins that puts you pretty close, correct? Where is the check in for the Cabins? Thanks

Checkin is at the VWL main lobby

I do not think golf carts will be allowed as it is really part of VWL with people walking on sidewalks near pool

I would try to avoid the extreme two ends of the cabins (i.e. the furthest walk)

I do not think you can view fireworks, but can see the water boat light parade show

There is ample room between the cabins, but if someone is loud on the patio next door you will hear them

I did not hear any noise toilets like the bungalows (this is a good thing)

Parking for the cabins closes to BLT side have a separate parking lot (these still look like no guests are in them yet) and the other side cabins has the same parking as VWL (these appear ready for guests). I did not walk the entire row.

We actually talked to some CM at WL, and discussed golf carts to the cabins. There was no decision yet.

That would be cool. Just for the cabin guests. There could be parking areas where they couldn't go closer to the pool/main building. Bobbi - we could have a race to see who gets to their cabin first!

Also, it looks like the east side cabins have a marshy area between the cabins and the lake. The west side looks like they are closer to the lake bank without a marshy area in between. Is that correct? Which is a better view I wonder?

Ha! I am a foot operation on September 6, so by the time I see you, I just may be a contender!

Looking forward to it! Let's get together in December. We're having a party at our Bungalow!

The parking lot for the south end of cabins is only for the cabins I believe. VWL has always parked in the main lot straight out from the WL porte cochere and will have to continue to do so from everything I've read.

I found this map on the web. It shows cabin parking at each end of the resort. The parking isn't real close to the cabins but that is OK with me. I would be staying at the cabins to enjoy peace and quiet. I wouldn't want to see cars parked at each cabin. If they don't provide/allow golf carts for the "cabin dwellers", I wonder it if they would allow bikes or Segways?

I doubt it. Maybe if they had put the wider "freeway" in front of the cabins instead of next to VWL but it's a smaller width pass by the cabins and I would imagine Disney wouldn't want the potential hazard that might occur by having bikes or Segway on it. Golf carts operated by staff may be iffy too. Or at least the south side has a more narrow path.

The distance between the furthest west cabin and the pool is about 740 feet (straight line). The distance from the pool to the furthest east cabin looks to be +/- 1,000 feet

We are staying in a cabin mid sept and looking forward to seeing them in person. I really liked the bungalows when we toured those. I am a little concerned about the openness to the lake as we will have at least one person sleeping in the living room (any blinds/window coverings?) and it looks like the shower has a huge frsted window in it, like the tree houses, which I hate! just gives me the creeps that someone could be looking in. Also a little more weary of possible alligator sightings along that area, being so close to the lake. :scared:We are only there for one night, just to experience it. Way too expensive for us otherwise.

Having stayed at VWL only a couple of times, I always thought that the villas farthest away from the Lodge were such a long walk to the car and the Lobby. The easternmost cabins are even father away.

Looking forward to trying them one day, but hope I don't end up at the eastern end!

December in a cabin will be amazing! I hope to do that someday. We'll have a cabin stay next May, and I'm hoping it's not too hot in the evenings to enjoy the fireplace and hot tub. We may have to use them even if it's hot!

I don't think I'd mind the most eastern cabin too much. I'm generally pretty tolerant of long walks to my room. I do think I'd hate to have cabin #1 on the western end, though. We love wide open lake views, so hope for an eastern cabin. Not that the island view would be bad, but I just don't want to see the Contemporary and monorail when I'm at the Wilderness Lodge.

Agreed, CC cabin + December = awesome. I envision a 2-3 day stay at the far east cabins just taking it easy and relaxing. No parks. Go to Artist Point for dinner, lunch at Geyser Point B&G and just chill out for the rest of the time. Switch to a different resort (like BWV) to go to the parks. What a vacation!
