Coolers on ECV's

Hi, I have a question about the ECV's that you rent from Apple Scooters in Orlando. I was wondering if anyone knows if it is possible to fit a small soft sided cooler on the floor between the rider's feet and the seat. We want to pack our lunches in the parks to save money, but don't want to have to lug the cooler around by hand all day. We are going to rent my mom an ECV - most likely from Apple - and I was just wondering if we would be able to fit the cooler on the ECV with her. I know we can also rent a locker, but I like the idea of having the cooler with us so we can just plop down and eat somewhere without having to trek all the way back to a locker first. If the Apple Scooters are not big enough, does anyone know if the scooters from other companies are big enough to accommodate this?

Thanks in advance.

I wouldn't think that ANY ECV has space on the floor for anything but a single pair of legs/feet and attempting to squish a cooler in there would just be very uncomfortable for the driver

I don't know where it was rented from, but my dad rented a scooter on our last trip that came with a cooler (I think it was in a basket on the back, but I may not remember correctly).

Most of the rental scooters have a small basket attached where you could place a very small soft-sided thermal bag. You could potentially hang something off the seat back or handlebars, but I would not try to leave a bag on the "floor" of the ECV; you don't want the rider to get their feet tangled in anything that might result in a fall. Also, while that "floor" area LOOKS really spacious in the pictures, in reality, it is often not very large at all.

I personally have not heard of anyone in Orlando renting ECVs with built in coolers; if they are, I imagine they are VERY popular! :)

With bungy cords you can attach a backpack to the back of the seat. In the backpack you can use soft sided coolers to pack a lunch. I think this will be your best bet. You will need to remember to bring a backpack with you.

As previously stated there is a small basket in the front of the scooter. If you place a soft sided cooler on it's side you might get a larger one in the basket, but not a normal size cooler.

You may want to go to a local mobility store and take a look at a scooter and then you can determine what might work best for you. A visual helps a lot. The grocery store scooters all have huge baskets; so, you can't go by that basket for size.

Have a Great trip!

I found this online....it's called the seat back mount cooler, by challenger mobility. image.jpg

you can also rent a locker in the park to store the cooler. In general, I would not think you would want larger than a lunch-box size cooler on the footplate if it can be avoided...

The deck of most scooters will fit coolers or other containers in a pretty wide range of sizes...that's why I prefer to travel with my scooter...The foot plate on my power chair is simply too small for much but my feet so I use a backpack on that, instead. The problem with hanging something on the back of the seat, though, is that it sometimes gets squished if you are being transported by an accessible taxi. The cast members at the gates often ask to check the coolers and backpacks, too.

Wow. Thank you all for so much helpful information. My thought was that the basket on the front of the scooter might be too small, but I never thought of hanging or mounting it on the back. It's nice to know that there are companies that make coolers specifically for that purpose, too. Thank you all, again. Your help is greatly appreciated.
