Are we allowed to bring our own coolers with beverages (alcoholic and non) to the pools? I've carried a drink from the room before but wonder if it's possible to bring more.

Thanks!

Not allowed according to the official rules.

I've seen people with coolers before. Though glass containers are not allowed.

Denise in MI

We asked while we were at Kidani.
We were told small coolers are fine but no glass and no straws.
But we all know CMs all have different answers and they are not always correct.

No straws would be because of AK, when that park opened there were no straws on the park. Now they are using paper straws.

Last weekend, DS bought a lunch cooler into SAB, the CM said nothing to him about it being against the rules.

We have a couple of the smaller softside collapsible coolers in our Owners Locker just for this purpose. We bring them to the resort pools filled with ice and take beer (cans only), Diet Coke and my Captain Morgan along with a large plastic cup and a can coozie (huggie). They are just big enough to fit about 4 cans plus a small bottle of Diet Coke and The Captain. I do not feel obligated to have to purchase a mixed drink at the pool bar for $7 or whatever they cost when we are timeshare owners and pay dearly enough as it is to be able to sit on those lounge chairs. As far as I'm concerned the pool is an extension of our villa. We never stay long enough to get drunk nor would I ever bring glass of any sort to a pool. But I don't see the difference between bringing our own beverages contained in a small cooler VS having to buy them from the pool bar. It's not like drinking at the pool isn't allowed. We also take a cooler to the water parks when we go but filled with bottles of water and Gatorade.

We always bring our small lunch-box size cooler with us to the pool. A few beers and other snacks. Our lunches are usually in a plastic grocery bag. never a problem. Never a problem or comment from the CM's. We stopped paying for overpriced food and drinks at the pool a few years ago.

I have never seen any prohibition of coolers at DVC pools.I have only seen prohibition on Glass. I have seen people with large coolers. I have seen people with blenders making margaritas also.I think the behavior is what drives enforcement. I am saying I have seen it not saying I condone it.

I think having your own drinks at the pool is no differnt than bringing down a l tray of food cooked in villa.
We always bring a small softsided cooler everytime we go to pool. We pack a few cold drinks. Never had a CM say anything. At least once I was given ice by bartender for the cooler.

drusba can you show us where it is prohibited?

I have never seen anything posted or read anything about no coolers at the pools as long as everyone said, No Glass.

I do know that no drink, glass or food is allowed on the pool deck, so as long as you stay back in the table and chair area I think you are fine.

We bring a small rolling cooler to Stormalong when we go - its a LONG walk back to the villa!!! We have never had any issues and I directly asked the guards if it was ok and they said yes as long as there was no glass - as others have mentioned.

Many of the quiet pools have BBQ areas right next to the pool area (I'm specifically thinking of the congress park pool at SSR) so I can't see a cooler being a problem. Of course like others have posted, no glass.

I once saw a CM ask a guy at SSR to leave with a cooler. He was pouring beers into plastic cups at his chair. The request escalated into loud complaints by the guy about being kicked out for having a cooler full of beer. I thought he was getting tossed for bringing his own beers when I heard the CM calmly explain to him that the cooler wasn't the issue and the beer really wasn't a big deal either. The issue was that his beer was in glass bottles and that glass was prohibited in the pool areas at all WDW resorts. He told the CM that's why he was pouring it into the plastic cups, but the CM said that while he understood that the guy thought he was helping the issue by using the cups it didn't change the fact that the glass bottles were still in the pool area.

The guy was back the next day with a cooler full of beer in cans. The CM who asked him to leave the day before stopped and thanked him for bringing cans that day.

Yes please NO glass, we had to spend hours at the ER thanks to someone that did bring glass to the pool area.

Sorry to hear about that Sammie, ugh! What a dumb way to ruin your vacation time. At home, we have a pool too and I tell EVERYONE! no glass around the pool. We use all plastic cups, plates and so on.

It's not worth it.

Last year @ the VGC we were told by CM that they would lose their liquor license when my husband had red wine in a plastic water bottle. My MIL said to CM that it's not glass but that was not the issue w/CM. MAybe it did not help our cause due to we were already infront of the cabanas and drop a buck load of $$$ on disney drinks while renting cabanas the inlaws did not want to spend anymore when a case of their favorite wine was in our villas.

Liquor laws vary from state to state. What is ok at WDW may not be ok at DL.

Just spent 4 days poolside at VGC. No issues with any CM's during our time. Using a small soft sided cooler and tervis insulated cups, we drank our skinny girl margaritas. Love this drink. :love:Very refreshing and not to sweet.

Recently read about how a some of the blended frozen specialty drinks have as many calories as a big mac :scared1:... I limit myself to one of them at the most a day.
