Cool.... Cheap Business/First Class Upgrade on Airtran

Just checked in for my Airtran flight to MCO that I only paid 69 and change including tax and was offered a First Class upgrade for only $49.

Not checking luggage, so I thought cool, why not!!

I'm beginning to like this Airtran. If they would just move the flight to 6:30 at night instead of 12:05 in the middle of the day, I'd be REALLY HAPPY!! (I hate using leave for long weekends, but nobody else had anything close to that price).

That upgrade includes a free suitcase, if you had been checking luggage.

I'm crossing my fingers this happens to us as well. We've upgraded once before and I quite enjoyed it! I like the free bag as well - so really your upgrade is only like what $30?? Have a great time!

When you were checking in online, were you there at the 24 hour mark or how long before your flight. I am just curious if it is offered to people as they check in or if it is just a random thing......

I would love to send the kids back to coach while DW and I sit in First! Kind of like the movie Home Alone...... see ya kids!

Right at the 24 hour mark and EVERY single seat in First/Business was available.

It is offered to everyone at the 24 hour mark. Until all of the business class seats are gone of course.

Right at the 24 hour mark and EVERY single seat in First/Business was available.

That is very common on our flights to MCO from MKE. I often upgrade my DH and me either using Airtran rewards (4 each) or paying the $69 fee. If we don't upgrade, we are sitting in the exit row. That's not so bad, either, but it doesn't come with the free suitcase.
