My mother got her recipes from her mother and MIL.
Many with cabbage. Stuffed cabbage, sautéed cabbage and onions, cabbage soup, etc.
My maternal grandmother (Babcia) made “Salad Potato,” with Miracle Whip, Wish Bone Italian dressing, and celery seed.
Paternal Babcia made something she called “Romanian Eggplant.” Peel and cut into cubes, sauté in oil, add tomatoes. Put in casserole dish, top with buttered bread crumbs and bake.
That beer chugging aunt I mentioned last summer made an amazing spaghetti sauce.
I follow another aunt’s recipe for Snickerdoodle cookies.
