I was wondering if they conduct food demonstrations on the Fantasy during sea days? Anyone know? Thanks in advance! Sorry for typo on subject line.. Not sure how to correct it

Yes they do. I didn't actually make it to any of them but they do. They offer adult only, family, and demonstrations in the kids club for the kids. On our cruise one was for lobster ravioli, I can't remember the others.

I wanted to go but there was always too many things going on. We are going on a TA cruise next year so I should have time on that cruise;)

Thanks for the quick reply!

I saw several on the Navigator from our Eastern on the Fantasy in September. DD and I made it to the apple strudel demo...and they served pieces of it to try.

As PP said, they have different recipes and some are adult only. It was a fun little thing to do on a sea day.

I fixed your title for you. All you have to do in the future if you want to change the title is to click "EDIT" and then "GO ADVANCED" and that will let you change the title.

If you are a germaphobe like me, I'd caution you. The only time I went to one of the cooking demonstrations, one of the head chefs (I think it was from Animators) had a cold, and he kept wiping his nose with the back of his hand while cooking. Let's just say, I ended up writing a very long comment card for that cruise :)

Thank you mmouse37! I was on my iPhone and was not able to figure it out!

Yuck and double yuck Californiagirl09!!! That is sooo disturbing on sooo many levels!!'

It really was. It was one of those times when you find yourself exchanging glances with complete strangers around you and you are all thinking the same thing!

We attended three cooking demonstrations on the Fantasy-Lobster Ravioli (yum!), Sea Bass (no thanks!) and Apple Strudel ( double yum!). I was selected to assist the chef with making the lobster ravioli. It was lots of fun and you get free samples at the end and free liquor with one of them (if you're over 21, of course).

Ewwww, ick! I read this after posting my reply. We didn't have that happen, but it sure makes you think twice about trying those free samples now!:sad2:

They usually do an appetizer, entree and dessert on different days. We did all three on one of our 7 day cruises. They usually serve a small glass of wine or something to pair with the food samples. We ended up having a really surprising pairing with one of the desserts. I would never have normally even tried the dessert but I was there and figured why not. I also seem to recall that they had copies of the recipes if you wanted them.

Thank you all for your great info! I can't wait!

Yes...this is the same reason I try to avoid any of the buffet lines on a cruise. We cruise almost every year...every year I get more and more disgusted at what I see while standing in line. We tend to try to stick to the sit down restaurants or where you order and they create your choice right there and then. This is also why Potlucks at work are not one of my favourite things to organize nor attend.

While the visual demonstration may have been unappetizing to witness, your samples should have been fine as they were prepared ahead of time in the galley by the prep team, not by the head chef himself.
