Since there is essentially only one large restaurant on CC, I envision hordes of people being pushed through a cattle shoot. What is it really like??

It's not really a restaurant...Cookies BBQ is set up with buffet lines. There are multiple lines and lots of places to sit and eat. If you time it right, you can beat the rush or mosey in after the rush.

Adults can also choose to eat over at Serenity Bay (it's a slightly different menu, but we usually eat there and it's pretty good).

Ginny :)

I did not find the lines long either day we were there. And our cruise was full. You have a couple of hours to eat, so it is spread out. Do not worry.

Like hordes of people pushing through a cattle shoot....

well, sort of. I waited longer on CC than anywhere else. I will be honest and tell you I thought the food was marginal. I mean, there isn't much you can do to a hamburge or chicken or rib. Nothing spectacular and the lobster burgers were just patties like crab cakes breaded and fried. Okay stuff.

You can also go back on the ship and eat at Parrot Cay. We have done that in the past. We usually get off as soon as they allow you to disembark, then spend the morning at the beach. We then head back to the ship and eat onboard.

We don't always do that, but sometimes we do, and it is a nice alternative.

there are multiple lines at Cookies....folks tend to gravitate toward the ones directly in front....scoot around the side and you'll find no crowd, no rush....

We didn't really have to wait at all, but I think we went a little later than most. I didn't think the food there was that great either. The lobster patty was pretty good and I think I had a salad that I liked.

We have done 6 cruises, one of them with 2 stops at Castaway Cay. We always eat lunch at Cookie's and have never had problems with lines. We love the ribs. But then I have never met a rib I did not like. :D

that would be nice to do. I worry though was we are usually quite sandy or slathered in sun screen and the thought of hauling back to the boat (which is a good ways away) is less appealing than eating where we are.

Does anyone know if they serve coffee at CC? Because it was so cold I wanted some on my visit but couldn't find any anywhere!!

What we liked best on CC was the fruit station! There was a CM slicing up any fresh fruit you wanted. DSs thought that was the best. I agree that the food was marginal on CC. Eating on the ship at PC is a nice alternative.

I agree that the food is not that great. I have read a lot of posts that say how much they enjoyed the food. I know there is a lot of work to prepare the quantity you need, but it is just bland and boring. It was nice when they added the fresh fruit area and now the salad station.

FWIW, I thought Cookies was some of the best food of the cruise. Weve eaten there twice now and love it. In fact Im bummed that we will miss it on our CA cruise this summer, but Im hoping they have something similar on the ship one day.

The Fruit Station is a wonderful part of the CC experience. I do not think I recall a salad station, so that might have been added in the past two years since i sailed DCL (Has it been that long!?). I found the lines moved, and trying to eat off-peak times helped. But I can't second the nomination of the ribs as good. Many things I can excuse on the basis of having to cook in bulk, but in the 15 years that I have lived in the south, and having married a southern belle whose daddy and uncle and brother all have smokers in the back yard for ribs, and the arguments over whose ribs are best (when in Alabama, it is safe to say Dreamland, but honestly, they are spare ribs, not baby back, and there is no comparison)...well, it just might be too labor intensive for Disney, but good ribs can be made in bulk--as watchers of the Food Channel or Travel Channel can attest during all the BBQ competition shows.

Okay, now I'm hungry. Darn that New year's resolution...

We've been to Cookies twice. Never had a problem with lines. DGS wanted seconds on something and it was a snap to get right back in line to get it. I agree with the others who aren't raving about Cookies food. Marginal is a good way to describe it, cruisenewbie. The only food I did enjoy at Cookies, was the cookies n cream soft serve ice cream/frozen yogurt (whatever it was).

We were there last August and ate slightly after the rush. The lines were not long at all.

The food was just okay. The burgers were good. DH wouldn't let the kids eat any of the cold salads (potato, etc.), though, because the day was really hot and it didn't look like the salads were being kept cold enough--plus there were quite a few flies on them. I'm sure the salads would have been fine to eat but they just looked a bit risky. That was the only DCL food experience we were slightly disappointed with.

I wouldn't miss a minute at CC to go back and eat on the ship. We ate a light breakfast at BBB so we we'd be hungry for lunch early. We ate as soon as they "opened up", I guess around 11-11:30. They were setting up a salad station but didn't have it ready when we ate. There was virtually no line at that time. The fruit is awesome. I didn't realize how spoiled I was getting eating all of the fresh fruit on the trip. I really missed it when we got home. We got a big plate of fruit and took it back to the beach chairs and chowed down.

We have never waited in line to eat there, on our last cruise last year, they also had a caesar salad station that was not on the regular food line but closer to where the pavillion with the tables are. we also love the fresh fruit, and eating all of that great Wfruit while sitting with your feet in the sand is one of my best memory of the cruise. The soft serve cookies and cream ice cream is right up there too......
