Just when you think you know everything... how come I have missed this place? Although from the searches I've done on the board it doesn't seem to be much. Menu does appeal to me as I'm from the UK originally - any recent stories?

I've eaten there before, fish and chips. You can sit at the outdoor bar and order a drink. Not bad.

WPE and Earl of Sandwich get so much press it's hard to think of anything else. Personally we are not fans of ES (love WPE) so it would be nice to have somewhere else to try.

Thanks for the feedback. Fish and chips are great but I'm a huge meat pie fan (do not get the fruit pie fascination) which most NA's do not understand.

We have eaten there a few times. Last time maybe a few months ago on the quick service dining plan.
I have had the fish and chips, and their scallop dinner.
Their quality of food is fine. (The scallops were large. But did have some grit.) So far my two meals were very bland. You have to have some sauce or vinegar just to get some flavor. And seems most everything they offer is battered and deep fried.
It would be interesting to know if bland is their normal way. Or they think bland is what the general public wants.
They have meat pies that look awfully good though. I will give a chance on one of those sometime.
DH and I always wanted to try their deep fried candy bar. (Doh Bar, I think they called it.)
Same bland batter over a snickers bar, and deep fried. We both said glad we tried it. But wouldn't want another. A regular Snickers bar is better.
That last time we ate at CoD they had a sign on their counter that stated they had hamburgers.

Are you looking for strictly counter service? Because Raglan Road, which is TS, gets great reviews. (It's got Shepherd's Pie for lunch and Chicken & Mushroom and Shepherd's pies for dinner.)

The CoD menu does appeal to me too, although I've never eaten there. If you are looking for pies, they have three to choose from and they all come with chips. There's Chicken & Field Mushroom, Beef & Lamb, and Fisherman's pies.

We really enjoyed this place! The portions are huge there, but seating is at a minimum.

I'm so glad that this thread got started. I wouldn't even have thought to eat there and now we will likely give it a try. We love EoS and WPE but it's time for something new at DTD for us.

Just CS, unfortunately RR was on original ADR but didn't make the shortlist and TS credits are more than eaten up. I think we may have to try this one... anyone know how far it is away from WPE? If it's close I may buy from here and the rest of the family can have WPE.

We thought it was so-so. The fish/shrimp/etc and chips were good until we finished it all. Then it became too much of the same batter. By the time we reached dessert with the same batter, we were ill. If I had stopped at the shrimp, I would have really liked it. Don't get the dessert with batter on it, (deep fried candy bar, mini donuts, etc).

We stop in to try the dough bar - it was pretty good - but the smell of the fry oil was overwhelming. The idea of going back there makes my stomach turn
