Has anyone been here? Care to give a brief review..or not brief...either is fine :teeth:

This place looks interesting and quick. I was just wondering if the food was good.
Thanks,
Kimba

Haven't been there, we usually eat in Raglan Road and forget cookes is right around the corner. It offers some variations of the fish/chips, fried candy bars, etc. Hubby and I agreed we have to give it a try next time we are up.

It smells fantastic.

Bumping this to see if anyone has any current reviews.

We haven't made it there as yet but it's on our definite list this year.

Thanks!!

We ate there last Feb. Food was great. It's a small counter service place with limited seating (although there may be some outside - can't remember) and the menu is also pretty limited from what I recall... your basic fish and chips, etc. I have traveled to Ireland many times and it very much has the feel of an irish "chippy." I loved the atmosphere for that reason.

I do recall that the portions were quite generous and my husband and I were kicking ourselves for not just splitting one meal as neither of us finished our own.

Same fish and chips, so that is good.

The deep fried candy bar is very rich, had it once and once was enough.

The fish and chips are awesome! Better than Yorkshire Co. Fish Shop at Epcot. This is a must do for me every trip.

It is one of my favorite CS meals in Disney. The portions are huge and can easily be split with your travel buddy. The fish and chips are great. I adore the combo as it is a little bit of everything. I am addicted to the deep fried sausages. The only thing I have not tried is the pot pies. I always want to try the pot pies. I just end up ordering the combo or sausages instead. The deep fried candy bar is great with a pint of Boddingtons from the porch.

One thing that makes this better than yorkshire is better seating available.

Thanks so much to all of you for your input!!

I'm glad to hear all the good reviews. :thumbsup2

The food is fine, but try to go there when you're not really strapped for time (or really hungry). When there's a line, the cooks are usually backed up with the orders also which could take you up to 20min to get your food (they fry them fresh). We went there twice during lunch time and both times we had to wait awhile... have fun!

Do they serve Shrimp and Chips? I saw it was on a menu of theirs. I'm really hoping they still offer it. It seems impossible to find shrimp and chips at DW.

Any input would be greatly appreciated. We'll be there the Nov 29 to December 8. Can't wait!!:woohoo: :wizard:

Is the combo covered under a counter service credit, on the ddp? TIA!

For a while it was not covered. It was only listed as a special on a seperate board clearly stating no DDP. Now it is on the regular menu board so I think it is covered. I also think it no longer automatically comes with a drink like it used to come.

so do the fish and chips REALLY taste like the ones you get in Ireland? I am from Ireland and that is the one thing I really miss with the salt and vinegar. I went to rose and crown in epoct one time and was very disappointed with the fish and chips there. But if this is the realy thing I'll be hitting it as soon as we get to Disney in Dec.

We were really impresed - I got a real bad craving for Chips - not Fries - but wasn'r impressed with the smell of stale cooking fat from the Rose & Crown.

Loved the chips at Cookes especially with the proper vinegar and Brown SAuce.

We're off there again in December too.

Now I am so excited to get those fish n chips, everytime I go home I have it every day and like I said, I REALLY miss the real thing. As soon as we check in at SSR I'm gonna be on the boat to DTD to get my fix!!!!:woohoo:

Excellent Chippie..!
we went begining of last week and again on saturday lunch..

warning though, if you want a pie get there around 1 and not when it opens at 11 as the pies are baked somewhere else then delivered..
annoyed me a little as we were leaving saturday and we had 10 CS left on our DDP so we were getting fish each anyway but also being indulgent and trying the pies out..had to waste 6 Css...
