Hey everyone. So...I talked to my adviser about doing the DCP and he said it was a really great experience. He also said that I wouldn't fall behind because I would be able to take a couple classes from my university while I was down there. But, I would really like to take one of the courses that Disney offers for credit back here. When I asked him about that, he said he hasn't ever had anyone or heard of anyone doing that. So...I'm asking for advice from people who have taken the courses for credit as to how they convinced their advisers. Thanks.:)

I actually have just been dealing with this in the last couple of weeks.
When I met with my advisor, we discussed different options about how my participation would affect my courseload.
For my major, I am required to complete an internship, and the program is counted as that.
For any classes I take down there (I'm hoping to take Hospitality Management), I will register for an elective class, and submit my homework to my advisor. Luckily, I also have supportive classes built into my major, and so those classes will count as my elective courses.
I'd check with your advisor to see if your university has any open elective classes and see if you can get credit for either the program or the classes that way. Hope this helped! : )

Another thing that helps is to print out the syllabi (available on the DCP website) for the classes you're interested in. Make sure you have the info for all of the ACE ones and bring all of those syllabi to the meeting so that your advisor can look them over to see their credit recommendations and the basics of what goes on in each class.

My school automatically won't accept credit for those courses because they're not "4 year accredited university courses". BLEH. Which means I have to find a distance learning course either for Jan-May or for June-July, otherwise I'm going to have to start to repay my Stafford Loan. :(
