Convince us to try a new TS restaurant/buffet

We're heading back this Oct/Nov and each time we go back, we tend to hit the same TS restaurants and buffets: Kona Cafe, Coral Reef, Les Chefs de France, Crystal Palace, Cape May, Biergarten.

We make a valiant effort each time to try something different, we search through online menus for the parks and resorts, but ultimately end up going back to what we know we like.

Please suggest something new that you've tried and loved. Something that maybe we haven't thought of, or maybe something that you heard wasn't good, but you tried anyway and were pleasantly surprised. I wouldn't dare say we're bored with the places we normally go, but we'd like to broaden our horizons!

What have you tried that you don't like? That might help eliminate some 'types' or flavors of dining, as well as help i.d. the ones that might appeal...

my family is much the same, we tend to our favorities, but my new theory is to try one new every year. This year that plan didn't work.( but we did try 2 new lastyr.)

Boma dinner love it more the second time then the first.

Tusker House, tried new last year, now my favorite breakfast on property. can't wait til Nov.'s breakfast.

Ohana's good food and the best dessert. Going for 3 rd time.

Tutto Italia, our favorite meal of last year, it was new to us and are definatley doing this year. So worth it on DDP.

What have you tried that you don't like?

Call me crazy, but last October, we finally - after several tries - got into Le Cellier. DW and I were pretty disappointed. I've eaten at what I consider some pretty good steak joints - Morton's, Magnum's, Smith and Wollensky, Charley's. All of them are (pun intended) a cut above Le Cellier in my humble opinion. Maybe my expectations were just too high.

The only other place that we were not at all impressed with was Kouzzina over at the Boardwalk. It was to Greek food what Olive Garden is to Italian food. Now granted, it was within the first couple months of opening and things were still a bit in disarray. I expected to see Gordon Ramsay come charging in there at any minute and start yelling at them to get their act together. It was like an episode of Hell's Kitchen. Commotion aside, the food was just meh.

Aside from those two, I can't really think of anything else we've tried that we really disliked that much. We're both fairly adventurous eaters, so I can't say there's any style or flavors we know we don't like. The places we've been disappointed with tended to have lousy service and bland food.

I agree with previous poster about Kouzzina, did not enjoy and very poor service.
Have you thought of The Garden Grove at The Swan. They have a buffet themed differently throughout the week. Very enjoyable, good food nice ambiance and not terribly exotic. Gave a look at their menu.

We are the same way. But each year we try different restaurants for half our meals. We eat at ones we know we like for the other half of the time. On our last trip the new ones we went to were Tutto, chef de France and cape may. This trip we probably won't go to any of those three again. We liked them but want to try more new ones and go back to others from a couple years ago again. This year plan to try tepon Edo and via napoli for new ones. Not sure what else yet.....

We, too, liked Boma for selection. Huge variety with different flavors. AKL is great to look at. Arrive early or stay late. If you are there during the day, you get to see the animals that are out.

Liked Tusker House, too.

Akershus - they served main dish plus buffet accompaniment for both breakfast and dinner. Akershus is not for everybody - the breakfast buffet has lots of fish (salmon, herring, etc.), granola, yogurt, fruit. I guess we are two of the few people who actually like the food...

Teppan Edo. Fairly traditional. Table-grill prepared food (where they chop, cook and serve on the grill surface right in front of you). We knew what we were in for, but we went anyway, as we don't go out to eat much...

If you like Mexican, try La Cantina de San Angel at about 8:15 for the fireworks. You could even make it just drinks.

Hollywood Brown Derby (bring your wallet).

Those are some of my picks. I know for every one of those choices there is someone else saying "Ewww..."

At Christmas last year we did most of our dining at the resorts, partially because we planned late, partially to see the resorts in Holiday garb and partially just for something different. We were there for three days and we decided to allow only a couple of standard choices. It was a nice change of pace.

OK, so other than Chefs, we like the same restaurants. Therefore, other places that I also like you might like too. My top 2 are Boma at AKL & Ohana at the Poly.

Additional places that strongly appeal to me are Yak & Yeti (TS) in AK, Tutto and Marrakesh in Epcot, LTT (lunch ONLY) and Tony's in MK, and nothing in HS. Trying out Turf Club this coming trip as the menu looks good and the atmosphere looks more 'adult'. When I can convince DH to upgrade sometime to DxDP I really want to try Artist Point & Flying Fish; menus look great to me.

We really like Teppen Edo and Raglan Road. Last year we tryed Akershus for breakfast and I am glad we did but we did not like the food very much. The princesses were great though. This year we are spreading our horizons - we are trying 1900 Park Fare for dinner, Ohana for dinner, and Coral Reef for dinner.

We were tremendously impressed with Kouzzina. You should at least try it. We thought the food was outstanding in quality and preparation.

There are some who swear their breakfast menu is tops in WDW.

Fulton's is the best. We are running out of new restaurants to try, but Fulton's is return trip. They had King Crab Claws on the menu (1/4 pound per claw) which was amazing. The best crab ever.
