I have been yearly to WDW since 2000, sometimes twice a year, but now my kids really want a short trip to DLP. I have never really fancied going here as I love the weather in Florida, it is also so expensive to stay there compared to wdw. It doesn't seem big enough to spend several days there.
So now you all love DLP and I am willing to give it a try so I need all you people to convince me why I should go and also when.
I am going to go and read some trip reports to see if that will get me in the mood

Hi,

I think reading the trip reports is a really good start, as they are folks real experiences, good and bad, at DLRP.

I can't compare the 2 parks, DLRP and WDW, as I've never been to WDW with my daughter. So I'm not going to try and convince you one way or the other. The only thing I will say is, the first time I took my daughter to DLRP, I thought it be a once-only trip, we'd have seen it and done it all at the end of it, and I'd have no desire to go back. I was wrong :goodvibes .

I must admit I prefer WDW but DLP has a lot going for it too. I personally think the castle is much prettier at DLP. DLP also has most of the major rides that are in WDW but space mountain for example is much faster and has a loop in it in unlike WDW. The thing I like about DLP is that if I am needing a weekend away it is very easy to get there and is very doable in a long weekend. On saying that I have been to DLP 4 times and yes I have ridden everything lots but there are so may details that I haven't yet seen. This last trip was the 1st time I seen the dragon in the castle for example.
I think you will have to give it a try but to go with an open mind and I think you will be rather pleasantly surprised

I would urge that you dont go and spend the whole time comparing WDW to DLP as they are completly different parks which offer different Disney experiences.

Hi,

have been to both, and enjoyed both. The scale is much nicer at DLRP - you can walk to the parks from the on site hotels, and walk to the Village area for food and entertainment and walk to the studios park.. and to the rail station too... Much easier to get around.

The rides are pretty similar, OK some are in French - Haunted Mansion etc... but it doesn't matter. The shows all seemed to have English versions when we were there too....

If you are restricted to school holiday times, we found the best was May half term - the weather for us was great, the queues were short, and as we spent 5 days there (cost us £1600 for 4 inc transport by car/ferry, WDW was CONSIDERABLY more!), we spent early morning till 3 in the parks then went to chill out in the pool. And it felt like a HOLIDAY not a planned assault campaign on the parks like at WDW.

So, we like both, but differently....

Tessa

Hello, I have never been to WDW, but would absolutely love to go, if it was nearer. DLP is an extra. We have our summer holidays in the sun for the fortnight and then DLP is an extra at least once, (wish it could be more) a year. So easy to get there. Weather may not be brilliant, but then again it is what we are used to so we have the right clothes to wear.

I also like the compactness of it. If needs be you can race to the other side to get that last turn on a favourite ride. I feel there is enough there to keep us occupied for a four night five day trip and I could stay much longer as I love the ambiance of the place. I also love the fact that it is France and practicing a little school french.

Hope you enjoy, but you have to go with an open mind and not compare it to WDW. Two very different experiences.:artist:

Ive been to WDW 4 times and been to DLRP 2 times and I am going for the third time in March....I think this probably says enough. I love wdw and I can understand why you may think there wont be enough to do at DLRP as with WDW you have the other Disney parks, Universal, the water parks etc.

Im going to DLRP for 3 days in March and I know we will barley scratch the surface of what there is to do. If your thinking about going for 7 days there will be enough to do and even if you dont want to go to the park for 7 days theres always val d'europe and Paris and other things you can go and visit.

Its impossible to compare DLRP with WDW as they are so different and Florida well its just Florida, you will never get that weather over here. Hope this helps a bit but certainly dont put off going to DLRP just because you love WDW so much, you may just fall in love with DLRP as well.

I haven't been to WDW...went to DLRP for the first time last August, before we went I thought it would be a one-off-we are now going for our 3rd trip in 6 months in a couple of weeks time, and hoping to go back again in the summer too!

Before our 2nd trip in January I wondered whether we would end up being bored having been there before, but it was even better 2nd time round. We did loads of stuff we didn't manage to do on the first trip, and have planned in things for this 3rd trip that we haven't managed on the two previous occasions.

The kiddies are HUGELY excited about going back again, though maybe not quite as excited as me :rotfl2:

I would say go and give it a go...after all the Disney magic pixiedust: is surely magic wherever in the world it is?! :goodvibes (hoping to one day make it to WDW to prove that theory to myself :rotfl: )
