Convince me that Bonnett Creek is better than a Value!

We (DH, DD5, DD3 and myself) are planning our Disney trip for next February. We decided to stay offsite - my friend recommended Bonnet Creek and after reading the We Love Bonnett Creek thread, decided that it seems like a perfect place to stay.

I bought our Disney tickets through UT a couple weeks ago to take advantage of the 2010 prices so those are good to go.

But the new Disney Discounts came out today and I'm having second thoughts. Did I make a mistake in buying the tickets? Would I have been better off getting a package at the Pop to get Free Dining? Or is my original plan (tickets at 2010 prices, stay at Bonnett Creek) still the best one?

I realize I have a little buyer's remorse going on right now/second guessing everything so help convince me that BC is much preferable to staying at Pop!

Also...how convenient is BC to everything?

It is often the case, especially with promotions, that a stay in a Value room is less expensive than staying offsite, getting a rental car, and paying a la carte for tickets and food.

But, you could give me a Value room for free, and I wouldn't stay there with my wife and kids. The four of us in one 260 sq. ft. box doesn't sound like vacation to me. Now, plenty of people do it, and enjoy it, so perhaps I'm the one who is crazy. And, price is not my bottom line---I'll pay a few dollars more for the extra space. Your mileage may vary.

Wyndham Bonnet Creek is way better than a Disney value resort. You can't even compare the two (laughter) - a Disney value will have thin walls with flushing toilets heard at all hours of the night, tiny beds, and tiny rooms (barely 260 square feet - no thanks). Bonnet Creek is super close to Epcot and MGM studios and we could actually see Pop Century and Caribbean Beach resort from our Tower 4 unit when we stayed at Bonnet Creek in May.

We liked Wyndham Bonnet Creek so much that we added some more Wyndham points resale rather than buy more DVC (Disney) points. So I'd say we liked it pretty well.

I was a die-hard Pop Century lover (over 10 trips) until due to work we got a cheap rental at Bonnet Creek. O M G!

First- it is cheaper than Pop Century (unless you don't rent a car when you stay at Pop, and maybe even still cheaper). Rent from an owner at Redweek, eBay, etc and pay less than $100 a night for a 2 bedroom- easy.

It was amazing to have our own private bedrooms- heaven! Our own bathrooms! A living room where we could stay up late watching movies or whatever and not disturb our daughter. Even better, a full kitchen. I found that I love cooking on vacation. We splurge and buy food that we normally don't get too often at home. Also- the Jacuzzi tub... amazing after a day in the parks.

Beautiful grounds, a wonderful woman (can't remember her name) at the gate that dances and sings in Spanish while you drive in or out- she had us laughing and smiling every time, great pools, a lazy river- and none of them as loud and crazy like Pop's main pool.

I really don't think that anyone would stay at Pop again after staying at Bonnet Creek. You really can't even compare the difference between the feeling of both types of vacations.

My family usually stays in timeshares, but stayed a few nights at Pop Century a few years ago for free dining. I loved the theming, but we've never been so uncomfortable on a vacation. After years of having separate bedrooms and a full kitchen, the tiny rooms at the Pop was awful by comparison.

They were even small compared to other hotels I stay in. I'm sitting in a Marriott Townplace as I type this (one of the lower end Marriott chains) and it's huge compared to what we had at the Pop.

It would be no decision at all for me. Bonnet Creek is a very nice resort and no farther from the parks than the Pop. It's actually closer to some of the parks.

I have not been to DW yet, however from reading all over this board, I would say BC would be much better due to the size of the place alone. I am with the person who posted above, I would rather spend a few extra dollars to get more comfort.

:rotfl2: I agree completely! I could have written your post myself. :thumbsup2

ETA: OP, we love Wyndham Bonnet Creek. It is my new favorite place to stay. After we stayed there, DD and her new husband chose it for their honeymoon. GREAT place!
