So we are coming down to the wire and I am still debating french quarter or saving the $300 and staying at the HI Express in LBV (better room / free breakfast) . We are there for 8 nights. Please convince me that it is worth the extra $$ for POFQ. I'm dying here! Thanks.

Definitely stay on site at POFQ rather than staying off property. You'll save some money on parking fees.

I think it's totally worth paying more to stay on site. When you are on site you get the full ambiance of Disney, the whole package as it were, not to mention the convience of staying on site. I also love the POFQ. It's a wonderful hotel. It's just the right size so that everything is within a short walking distance, 5 mins max. It's nicely themed and the rooms are very nice. Also, you can take the boat to POR and use their pool or take the boat to DTD, which is nice. I wish they hadn't been booked up for our upcoming trip, otherwise I would have stayed there.

If you're only going to visit WDW once staying on property is the way to go. You get the extra magic hours either AM or PM you get bus service so no rent car (possible factor in your decision) and that means the "driver" is on vacation as well.

As stated before it is a great resort and compact and you only have to stay a a spread out resort once to appreciate what that means. Disney bus service makes it more feasible to hit the parks early and then come back to the resort for the mid day rest. Return to the parks later and stay to closing.

My now 23 year old daughter and I both grew up by staying 7 times at Port Orleans French Quarter.

We've stayed both on and off site. In January of 07 we stayed on site for the first time (not counting the band trip) and it was a completely different experience. It was so much more relaxing. We were able to get up in the morning and venture out to a park then come back to the room for a breather, then head back out again. I don't really know how to put it in words except to say we got to experience the true magic of it all.

I understand that the money savings can be an important factor. Our first few trips I stayed offsite because I felt I could not afford onsite. But once I sat down and figured up the rental car and parking expense I found I was not saving anymore money than if I would have stayed on property. Not to mention you can have groceries delivered and save a bunch of money there.

We will be staying at POFQ in November. From everything I have read it is the perfect choice for us.

Stay onsite if you can, I don't believe you will regret it.
