Convince me I've made the right choice!

Keep me from spending any more money!

Right now I have 2 rooms booked with Free Dining at the All Star Sports. I've also upgraded to the regular dining plan from the quick service plan. However, when I check moderate resorts, we could move to POR for another $350. So I'm really tempted! I love POR!!!

The thing is, I know we won't be spending a ton of time in our rooms. My 21yr old nephew and a friend of his will be going along, and they plan on being in the parks all of the time. So they really don't care if we upgrade or not. Also, my dad is coming on the trip, and his one request was a resort that did not make a ton of stops before heading the the parks. He wants a good chance of getting a seat on the bus.

So I'm thinking the smart thing to do is to keep my reservation for the Sports. Am I right? Or can you see a reason why switching to POR would be better for everyone?

Yes I'd definitely keep the current reservation. Everything's already done and if you don't plan on spending a little extra time in the room, then a Value would work best as the boys are going to be hitting the parks all day. The savings would be better enjoyed than moving to another resort that won't be utilized to its fullest potential (pool slide, larger beds, ceiling fans).

I would stay put. We plan on doing some resort days so we upgrade from pop to CSR. But then again the upgrade is pretty reasonable. Our upgrade was 440.00 for 11 days for one room during FD.

I think I might upgrade. Not so much for the room, but for the resort amenities. There is a much nicer pool with pool bar. There is a full service restaurant and a lounge with entertainment on some evenings. The resort layout is beautiful, and there is a really nice ferry boat that takes you to Downtown Disney, which is really nice, especially for dinners and shopping. The only downside of the things you mentioned, is that POR does have several stops within the resort for the buses, but that doesn't mean you won't get a seat any more than you wouldn't get one at All Stars. I would look at pics of the resorts to see the differences. I also think, IMHO, that POR is better suited for adults than All Stars. Just seems like more little kids at All Stars. POR is just more relaxed in atmosphere. Good luck deciding, and enjoy your trip! Jane

If the $350 extra is for 2 rooms I would do it for sure. Larger rooms/larger beds. Better fit for a adult-only trip IMO.

I would switch. But, we like the larger rooms even if we don't spend much time in them.

I had your same dilemma (for one room, though, not 2), when I switched a planned 3 night trip at POR into a 7 night version at ASMo in 2009. It was DH's first trip, so I worried so much about whether he would be happy with the value resort, but I also wanted to make sure we didn't overspend on the room and have to count our pennies on everything else, even though we were only talking about a couple hundred dollars difference.

Guess what? DH was more than happy with Movies (and this was coming from a guy who insists on direct oceanfront vs. oceanview at the beach.) He was more than impressed by the Disney level of customer service, the cleanliness, etc. at our resort. And it's not as if we traded in a monorail for bus service - we were going to have to bus it everywhere anyhow. I think I made a good choice.
