A few days ago we lucked into a last minute $4 airfare on Allegiant. We were able to book Shades of Green, since we will be a family of 5 this summer(step-daughter is here). Anyway, we are very excited about going down again, but have never stayed at SOG. Please give me all the details, good and bad! Any specific rooms to try for, etc. Thanks, Jenn :)

HUGE rooms!

2 1/2 minute bus ride to TTC.

Buses are always on time (it's the military after all).

Nice balconies.

Mickey pool.

Discounted tickets.

Shall I go on? :)

GORGEOUS place, the walk back from the poly (if you take the monorail) is TERRIBLE after a long day at the parks, but other than that WONDERFULLLL

Rooms are sparkling clean. There is no such thing as a bad view (pools or golf courses). No charge for the refrigerator in your room. Breakfast buffet is basic, but edible (and cheap!). No hotel tax! I've never encountered screaming kids or noisy drunks in the halls. Overall, a nice quiet atmosphere.
We've thought about staying elsewhere on property but can't justify it since SOG is such a great value. Hopefully that won't change.

Thanks everyone! I knew this would be the place to get some good honest reviews. We are getting so excited!

We will also be staying at SOG for the first time in September! We tried to stay there last year, but it was full for the dates we needed. I am so excited, I can hardly stand it! We stayed at ASMU last year, which was wonderful, but very cramped especially with two teenage girls! From what I've heard, the rooms at SOG are some of if not the biggest on Disney property! :yay:

We are staying at SOG for the third time this Nov and can't wait. We love it. The room size can't be beat, we love the walk to the Poly, the service we have gotten there has always been great. This coming trip my DH's family is joining us and it will be their first time staying there, so we are interested to see is they like it as much as us. Hope you have a great trip!!

SOG is a deluxe hotel at a value price! That is the honest truth and really all you need to know to pick SOG :cutie:

Its beautiful, clean, spacious, and CHEAP! It was the original disney inn...has a great location...and its CHEAP!
Enjoy the benefit that others would love to have.
:cool1:

We just stayed at SOG for the first time in March...and LOVED it! Where else can you watch Wishes from your balcony for $111 a night?
Not to mention the BEST to-go food at Evergreen's...where we fed our family for $30...try doing that at any of the other Disney Resort!

You guys are great! The kids are getting so excited, now if we can just get hubby home in time. He's supposed to be back this Sunday. Should I request a certain room or level. The fireworks from the balcony sounds devine!

We just got home on Monday from 8 days at SOG and I can't say ENOUGH about it. The rooms are sooooo big and you get a FRIDGE! The pools are great. One day I got a GREAT pool side massage, but they have a indoor massage area too.

The food I had was always great. We had the breakfast buffet 3 time, the express cafe breakfast sandwiches 3 times, lunch at Evergreens, pizza from there once and dinner at Magiano's one night. All great.

Its SOOOO quiet there. Even the pools didn't ever seem that loud when it was full. We had pool side rooms too.

The bus rides are good, but its also nice to walk to the poly and get the monorail. The Aafess store is so nice to have on property. The Ice cream parlor is WONDERFUL, all homemade ice cream but they need 2 people working from 8-10 pm there is alwasy a line at those times.

What else??????????? You CAN'T beat the price for the rooms ANYWHERE! My only compaint is the pillows but I am a very picky pillow person and NO hotel has ever had a pillow that I love.

We LOVE SOG!!! In fact, I am considering cancelling my free dining in September so that I can go back! You will love it there!!!

If you do they are offerings some specials for Sept.:thumbsup2

another good thing is, if you buy stuff in the parks you can have them do resort delivery to SOG just like the other disney resorts! LOVE THAT!

we just got back from a week at SOG
It was our third time there but DH family stayed there for the first time
They loved the fridge in the rooms and the AAFES store. We ate at Evergreens, the garden gallery and Maggianos. GG is just food but we don't go to Disney to eat gourmet! Maggianos was actually good and I love the food at Evergreens because its quick and easy. Our room was cleaned every day by the time we returned from the parks. I don't think I will ever stay anywhere else but SOG.
Our room number was 291 and it was right by the ice machine and a short walk to the lobby.
What rooms have balconies that you can see fireworks from??

So, should I try for a pool room? Is there a charge for that? I hontestly think that we will be in the parks for the fireworks, but a balcony view would be nice. Thanks for the updates.
