I'm planning on cooking a dinner for my mother's birthday, and wanted to surprise her by making the recipe for the 50's Prime Time pot roast.

The recipe seems easy enough, but I'd prefer to make it in my crockpot if possible. It just makes it easier for me to actually enjoy being with my family instead of being stuck in the kitchen all night.

I did a little research online about converting recipes, but am a bit confused. They all say to reduce the amount of water in the recipe, but how do I know how much to reduce it by. The recipe calls for 7 1/2 cups beef boullion. Anyone have any ideas how much this should be reduced by?

Any advice or help would be greatly appreciated!

I've done this before. First place all of your veggies in the bottom of the crock pot. I add potatoes because my family likes the potatoes cooked with the roast. The I brown the roast in some oil and transfer to the crock pot. I sprinkle a bit of salt and pepper over all and then add about a cup or so of broth. The liquid should come about 1/3 of the way up the food in the pot, so if you are using a smaller roast then use less, a larger roast use more.
Cover and cook on low for about 8 hours or so depending on size.

I like to use the crock pot liners because it not only makes cleanup easier, but it easier to get the juices out to make gravy.

Thanks for the advice. I'm going to try that for the dinner. I just love using the crock pot so much. I actually get to enjoy my company that way.
