Converting Park tickets to Annual pass

I have read a few threads, and saw that it is possible to purchase park tickets, then arrive at Disney World and convert the tickets to an Annual pass.
I do have a few questions about this.
We are booked for a split stay at Disney World, with 2 packages with park hopper tickets (hoping for free dining during our stay). So, we have 9 day tickets plus 5 day tickets.

My questions are:
1. If our tickets are part of a package, and we get free dining, can we still convert the park tickets to an Annual pass?
2. Can we take both tickets - 9 day + 5 day and convert to the Annual pass?
3. Will the full amount paid for the tickets go towards the Annual pass?
4. We will be going to Disney Springs on day of arrival. Where can we have this done there? Can this be done at the resorts too?
5. Is the Memory Maker included in the Annual pass?

1. Yup. You can upgrade the tickets to an AP tickets from a package.
2. No clue if you can combine 2 tickets into 1 pass
3. Yes. The full value that you paid will apply towards the AP cost. I don’t believe that when you buy a package it itemizes the cost for you to see exactly what you paid.
4. Yup. There is a guest relations there. No, you can’t upgrade at the resort
(unless something has changed)
5. Yes it is included

Thanks for that. Still need to know if the two tickets can be combined. That is the way the annual pass will actually be worth the money for me. :)

I hesitate to suggest calling Disney because they can’t upgrade your ticket (tickets) over the phone. As crazy as this sounds the cm’s answering the phones very rarely know Disney’s policy’s on things like this. You could all 10 different times and 5 will say you can combine them and 5 will say you can’t.
You are better off waiting for someone here on the boards that have experience with this. Good luck!!

No you can’t use the value of 2 separate tix for 1 annual pass you can only upgrade 1 tix per a AP.

Let's take a second look:

1. Correct.
2. Cannot be done.
3. There is no need to "itemize" as ticket prices are valued at the full normal amount
listed on the tickets pages of disneyworld.com on the date the package was first booked.
4. You can also upgrade to AP directly from your MyDisneyExperience account, after you arrive.
(You will still need to stop by any ticket booth or Guest Relations to pick up your "AP Card" to use for discounts, etc.)
5. Yes.

Thanks for clearing that up for me.

You could drop the tickets from the 2nd package, booking just a "ticketless package" (room+dining). That way you would have the "value" of those second tickets available as cash to pay for the AP upgrade. The second package would not be eligible for free dining, but with AP discounts and possibly TiW, it could actually save money. You'd have to work some of the figures to decide.

Enjoy your vacation!

1. yes
2. No, but if you are more than 30 days from the start of your 2nd stay, you might be better off converting second package into a room only stay- ESPECIALLY consider asking if there is an AP room only discount. You will have an AP by the time you get to the 2nd hotel and will qualify for the AP rate. That might be as good a discount. Usually AP rate+ poaying oop for meals is better than paying for the dining plan because you will now- even without buying Tables in Wonderland- get 10% off most Table service places, and you don't have to follow DDP eating rules. But as another person suggested, maybe price it all out.

You could also potentially ask if they can "refund" the 2nd set of tickets when you go to buy the AP's. The CM's are sometimes willing to do this, but it takes a while. If you ask about all this right away....CM might potentially be able to put that credit towards AP's, or you can use the credit to pay for oop pocket expenses. (you can even use a gift card to pay dining gratuities, it just adds a few minutes to process the card.) Others are correct thought, normally tickets are non refundable and can not be combined. If you let them expire, you are a little at the mercy of WDW, as to what it will cost to activate them or maybe put their value towards renewing AP. WDW keeps changing ticket rules.

4. you can do it at the GS places at DS. For a bit, they also had a ticket office. I'm not sure if that was just a temporary booth. You do NOT have to change tickets upon your arrival. You can use them to enter a park before you convert them. Price will be the same, but your wait might be much shorter. Disney Springs often gets LONG waits. A better bet is to go to one of the GS windows that are located inside the parks, and go at a slower mid-afternoon time. Personally, I prefer MK GS, as I have had best luck there with quick processing. though I think maybe I'm on Disney's secret 'special guest' list as my ticket transactions always take a very long time to process!

You can do online after activating tickets, but not if you want to pay with gift cards or do as I suggest above, that has to be done at a full service spot.

5. more or less, yes. I think WDW calls it something different, but you get all your photos.

Thanks for that. I have to crunch the numbers, see if it is worth it. We are coming from Australia, so I can't see us returning this year (over 20 hours travel). If it includes all days of tickets, it would be worth it. I have to see what would be a better saving - free dining (if offered) or room only discount. I do have another question... If we pre-pay for the Memory Maker, would this also be deducted from what would have to pay for the Annual pass? Thanks in advance.

Can you change your reservation to one continuous stay with a PH, instead of a split stay? Buying two separate sets of tickets for one trip seems very expensive.
When are you planning to visit? Is it during a period that has offered FD in the past?
Do Australians get the 14 day ticket like the Brits do?
