Converting Cash Reservation when adding Points

Thinking of adding points - Does anyone know if you can convert an existing cash reservation to points? I looked at what I am spending on a reservation coming up and got thinking maybe I should just purchase more points since I ususally end up with some cash nights each year. The only issue is that I am going in October and there doesn't seem to be availability on points. I wondered if that was not the case if you were purchasing. Does it provide availability when you are purchasing points.

No, it would be a cancelation and rebooking. If available though, the end effect would be the same.

You can't "convert" as Dean said. Sometimes guides can "work magic" for new purchases but I would not count on it for October. Which resort is your current reservation?
