Convert tickets to APs

I've searched the threads as much as I can, I figured I will just ask...

Is there a cheaper way to buy an AP for DVC members?? Such as buying a discounted ticket thru UT and then convert it to an AP once we arrive at the parks...

I'm sure someone has broken down the math and if there is a cheaper way, I'm sure someone has figured it out.

I'm also sure that there has to be a thread created on this, can someone point me to it!!

Ok, I think I've got it, can someone confirm for me??

I need to go to UCT and buy the ticket with the largest savings off gate price that does not exceed the cost of a DVC AP...

Right now it is the 8 day, PH+WPF-($28) off gate.

Because it has the WPF options, we need to upgrade BEFORE entering the park so that we can convert to normal DVC AP and not PAP???

Please someone check my work and give me a grade!!

If you purchase tickets from any place other than Disney you want to use that ticket before doing any upgrades. If you don't use the ticket, they will only credit you for what the reseller paid for the ticket. If you get a ticket with the WP&M option, you can still upgrade it to a Regular AP as long as you don't use on the of WP&M options.

You need to use the ticket at least once so it will convert to the gate price rather than the discounted purchase price. You just need to make sure you do not use any of the fun visits before you upgrade so you won't have to purchase a PAP.

Thank you. I thought that if you used it in any park, you had to go PAP. But, as long as we dont go in the WP's, we are all set.
