I was at a show in the convention center but snuck to Disney for a few meals! I wrote a review on Boma already but will rewrite part here to keep it in one report.
Sunday night: Boma. Cast: Me 36 and coworker 23. We both absolutely loved the choices. We were at first a bit apprehensive as we weren't into buffet. However just walking down the steps and the smells were so amazing. The corn salad and pork were my two favorites. My friend really enjoyed the salmon. We both loved the coconut tirmasu. I asked for the recipe and our server brought out a card I could fill out. I'm anxiously awaiting the recipes!
Monday night: Flying Fish Cafe. Cast: Me 36, coworker 23 and two other coworkers in their mid/late 30s. One is a veggie. Another awesome meal. I had the potato wrapped snapper. I can't remember what the other two had but the vegetarian had the ravioli. He made a comment how wonderful it was and that he would actually come there just for that dinner. He is one of those non Disney people too and was very impressed. The atmosphere here is really relaxed. I was surprised the place was pretty much empty. Lots of tables available.
Tuesday night: Yachtsmens Steakhouse. Cast: Me, and two cast members, 23 and 39. Two of us had the filet and the other had the tuna. We all enjoyed our meals. However the atmosphere here was not what I was expecting. Its pricey and yet a lot of young kids running all over and very crowded. It was loud. The food was great but the atmosphere was not as nice as the other places we ate. After we went for a walk around the boardwalk. We had a very odd experience. My young coworker is really full of energy and a lot of fun. We did have a couple glasses of wine with dinner but walked a bit and shopped at ESPN for my husband. We stopped at Big River Grill and the waitress said she could not serve my friend in her "condition". We were all really shocked. She was not slurring, causing a scene or doing anything at all that would indicate she was drunk, which she wasn't. They did not have a crowd, infact there was only one table with people outside and on inside. It was really bizzare. The waitress did serve us but said she could not serve a second round. We had only wanted one anyway but it was just really strange.
Wednesday night: California Grill. Cast: Me and 23 yr old coworker. We had ADRs for 9 and got there early, 8:30ish. We were not seated until almost 10. This was very disappointing. I had raved to my friend about this place all week. The food stood up but not the service. Our waitress was very curt with us. Not rude but not friendly either. I had the pork tenderloin and my friend had a few of the starters including tuna for her meal. We did get to walk out and see the fireworks. Still my favorite but the others are closing the gap!
All in all the food was outstanding.
