Convention ticket question - kind of complicated

I'm going to Orlando for a conference in Sept. I'm also going for a week in Dec. and had planned to buy a five-day ticket for that. Have decided to just make my ticket non-expiring and get a seven-day ticket to use a couple of days for the Sept. conference.

Here's my question----a friend is going with me to the Sept. conference. She's not attending the conference, just tagging along for the "free" hotel room. I'm a Disney freak and she thinks it'll be fun to go to Disney for her first time with me. The Orlando Convention Bureau sells tickets "after 2 p.m." tickets for convention goers. According to them, you just may be asked to show your convention badge or e-mail registration confirmation to the conference. A day-two after 2 p.m. ticket is $78---much cheaper than a regular two day base ticket.

So, do you think I can by a ticket for her to use and use my conference badge for that? I don't mean that in a fraudulent way---I am a conference goer and am buying a genuine ticket. According to the Convention Bureau, I can buy tickets for up to four people in my party. Just don't want to run into trouble at the Disney gate. I've e-mailed the Convention Bureau. They haven't answered, but I guess it doesn't really matter what they say--only Disney's opinion matters.

You should not have a problem getting the ticket for her. It expires 10 days after first use so I assume that won't be a problem for her. She will not be asked for anything relating to a conference at the turnstile. Just put the ticket in, do the finger scan and walk in.

So the fact that the convention attendee is not using the convention ticket but a non-conventioner is won't be an issue?

That implies that someone not attending the convention can use convention tickets obtained from the Convention Bureau in Orlando.

As far as I know, some convention tickets expire after a certain date even if not used. This is why the name of the convention is important in the ordering process.

Most of the convention tickets I have seen this year will expire if not used by Dec 30, 2005. Once the 1st day is used, as Golden Oldie stated, you will have 10 days to use it, or loose it, so to speak.

As for using the convention ticket... if you took a friend, family, etc to the convention with you, and you purchased the ticket and picked it up from will call with your ID, anyone in your party should be able to use it. Citing Golden Oldie again.... she just has to put it through at the turnstile and walk in.

Hope you have a good time!:)
