Controversial topics board....did I do something wrong?

Yeah, heaven forbid those posts take up the space for "Songs that have the word song in them" and "what are you eating tonight/next month/next holiday?"

Don't get me wrong, if someone wants to read/participate in those threads, go for it. Having somewhere to discuss controversial topics is no different than having somewhere to discuss "fluff" posts.
They aren't controversial especially because there isn't any discussion. It's a majority of people in an echo chamber bashing other people who have a different viewpoint. If you want to get real controversial head on over to one of the holiday menu threads. Traditional menus are hotly contested. :rotfl2:

Well, that's pretty much the entire nation right now. I'm enjoying being able to have conversations with like-minded people on this board. And yes, there have been plenty of times when we have discussions. Sometimes they get heated, but I haven't seen many people leave....we all wear our big girl and big boy pants in there. But I agree...it's not for everyone. And that's totally fine.

And the biggest complainer is now actively participating. Color me confused... 🤷‍♂️

"Welcome to the Hotel California

I think you missed my point. But I agree that it's not for everyone and I'll leave it at that. It has nothing to do with "big girl and boy pants".

I don't see a lot of civil debate going on over there. I have a feeling a lot of people have given up.
It might be because it reflects the makeup of the country. There are by far more people who prefer one party than the other, it's just the way it is.

Just like there are more people who prefer automatic to stick shift.
Or sunny days to gloomy weather.
Or beach sunsets to hurricanes.
You get the picture ;)

But the numbers don't bear that out. It's pretty much split 50/50 with respect to your first two sentences. I think most people prefer nice days and would like hurricanes to stay away.

I was referring to popular vote, which amounts to about 19 million more votes cast for one candidate versus the other in the last election. I won't get into it further here, but the country has more of one than the other based on popular votes cast.

You said it right there with the like minded people. It is definitely that and a bag of chips. I don't see a lot of opposition to your echo chamber. I can only imagine why.

No I think it's pretty 50\50.

You know what I meant. Comparing a sunset to a hurricane was stupid. Stick shifts rarely exist anymore so that's lame too.
I’m amazed how few can drive a stick, hell I’m even more amazed, or I should say dumbfounded how few kids can read an analog clock!! lol

Correct, hence the wink face.

Stupid and lame, eh? Ouch, but at least it's not "garbage", amiright?

I'm going to stop while I'm ahead lol. Have a good evening!
😂 I'm not stupid I know exactly why you used those comparisons. Doesn't really fly with anyone with half a brain.

You have a good evening too. Don't eat too much candy. BTW most people prefer Snickers over Twix.

My car can do either. I'll confess I can't drive a stick. My husband loves driving a stick. I'd probably kill somebody if I tried.

How the hell does a car "do either"?
A "sport version stick shift" refers to a manual transmission (stick shift) available in a sporty car model, allowing the driver more control and engagement with the driving experience, often preferred by enthusiasts for its ability to precisely manage gear changes and maximize performance in spirited driving situations.

I don't know how to drive it in sport. My husband seems to love it.
