Controls on Mission Space

I've often seen video of people riding Mission Space, and I've noticed they always seem to be fiddling with different types of "controls" in front of them ... joysticks, buttons, etc.

What the heck are they doing? Do these controls really do anything?

(I have a fear of getting on MS and messing up the whole rise for everyone by hitting the wrong button ;) )

The narration on the ride tells you when to push certain buttons or whatever. I doubt they actually do a thing...DH and I want to go on and just sit there as it tells you to push them. :lmao:

The controls don't really do anything except make noises. We like to pass the time after we board but before the ride starts pushing every button and flicking every switch possible. I guess I'm easily amused. :teeth:

Also, during the ride, if you fail to push your buttons, it doesn't do anything different. The computer just says "Computer Override" and pushes the button for you. There aren't any consequences for just sitting there, and the ride doesn't change one bit whether every button is pushed or none are.

Last Feb, my dd 7 and I rode this one solo and there were two empty seats between us. When it came to pushing the right buttons she started freaking out, saying "what happens" "should I push the buttons?"...

It kinda did freak us out a little bit but we got through it.

:thumbsup2

Dh and I just like to 'get into the spirit', so we always push the buttons even though they don't do anything. It's all pretense and fantasy and we feel that 'playing along' is part of the fun.

My aunt and her family went on Mission Space last year. My aunt and her family were OBSESSED with pressing the buttons at exactly the right time on their previous rides. it wasn't until the last day of their visit, and their last ride, when they they rode with them, plus one stranger who closed his eyes and shouted OH GOD, OH MY GOD for the entire ride, they realised the buttons did nothing :lmao:

They don't do a thing, there just for your enjoyment and that little added touch to make the ride close to the actual as possible. Push away, and enjoy the ride.

I heard if you push the wrong button they forcibly remove you and make you go on the version that doesn't spin until you promise to follow the instructions....

What ever you do KEEP YOUR EYES OPEN. This is not a ride that closing your eyes makes the sensations go away. You are instucted to look staight ahead and keep your head back. This is important. The only time I had any trouble was when I leaned forward. Believe me I quickly put my head back.
