Controlled "no vacancy"?

We are scheduled to go to WDW 4/30-5/06, staying at POP. Since we now have a reason to celebrate (GF going to vet school at Tufts!), I was looking to upgrade to a different hotel. To my surprise, many of the hotels are showing as full/nearly full on the Disney and other travel sites.

I expected this week to be less crowded (acknowledging it will still be quite busy) than when we went in June last year, but this seems to be on par or busier. Do the hotels in Disney always fill all of their rooms, or do they sometimes set "full" to be 3/4 reservations, etc.?

As it gets closer to when you are going the hotels are going to show that they are being booked up fully because many people have booked rooms at that hotel. At christmas my mom and I wanted to stay at WL but it was all booked up. It's just the luck of the draw if you are able to find a room that is avaliable so close to when you are going. On the WDW website, they set rooms aside just for those people who book online. What hotel were you looking at staying in? I'll be at the Poly when you are at WDW.

Just wanted to pass along my congratulations to your GF! It's very difficult to get into Veterinary School so she must be a very hard working and special person. Based on the excellent treatment two of my kitties have received at the Foster Hospital for Small Animals at Tufts, she'll be joining the ranks of a group of incredibly caring and dedicated people there at Tufts.

I do hope you find availability somewhere!

Hey TGr...congrats on GF getting into Tufts.(aka Cummings-Tufts Vet.School) That's right up the road from me...about 3 miles!!! Great school, beautiful area.
If you can't get a different resort, then live it up with some very special dining while there!!!
