CONTRACT VALUE COMPARISON

I half agree.

I think they're legit going to eliminate RCID. But also, I wouldn't take that into consideration.
I think they're going to do it, and unless Disney sues and wins it will have an impact on WDW. I'm also inclined to downplay it as a factor when it comes to DVC, but maybe the political climate of HI shouldn't be that big a deal either? Partly wondering whether some of the stuff going on in HI is overhyped.

Agree sipnride,

Hawaii factors overstated a bit. The main issue is two-fold: not selling quickly and Disney incentives to help sales along, which is depressing resale prices for those looking to unload a contract.

They will eliminate it and something similar will be put in place almost immediately. Its all overhyped.

Aloha! :) and welcome to the Hawai'i family! Anyways, personally I think Aulani is just fine to buy if you're planning to use it for SAP at WDW at 7 months here and there as long as you are actually going to use the points at Aulani on a regular basis. Welcome home!

Hello DVCers,

Would you opt for:

(A) SS $133 pp, same use year 240/160/160

or

(B) SS $140 pp, one month off current use year
320/160/160

Thanks much
The only time you should do a separate use year is

1. It’s an AMAZING deal compared to everything else which these two seem about the same.

2. It’s a rare contract like a subsidized Aulani or a guaranteed week contract that you really want (Unfortunately I have a contract that’s one month off my original UY because I really wanted a subsidized Aulani contract)

3. You plan to use the contract in a different season. (I’m planning to do this for VGC since I’ll likely be using it during Christmas time in California)

All that being said, having more UY definitely makes it more work to figure things out and things get even messier when you have to start transferring points. I’m planning to treat them all separately and have enough points on each of them so they can on function on their own (300+ points per UY) and avoid doing transfers.

4. You want to have access to more than two waitlists at a time (limited to two per membership if contracts have the same use year, not per contract).

Want to add to this. You can have two waitlist per UY so even in the same membership, you can have more than two if your trips currently booked are in different ones.

For example, I have a trip booked during my Aug 2022 UY and also ones during my Aug 2023 UY.

I could actually have two waitlists for each of those trips going at the same time if I needed to.

Thanks! To clarify, so if we have two different Home Resorts, same Use Year, under one Membership: We CAN have two wait lists for each of these trips (ie: 8/1/2023 and 8/1/2024 - in different use years), but we CANNOT have two wait lists for Each Home Resort in the same Use Year (ie: cannot have four wait lists - two for one resort arriving 8/1/2023, and two for the other resort arriving 8/15/2023). Is that correct?

Correct because it's still in the same use year. The only way to increase your number of waitlists in the same timeframe would be to have multiple memberships/contracts with different UY.
