Continuing Reservation Help

I am booked for the Yacht Club December 9-12 with an AAA rate. I need to add in the 8th, but the rate is 50.00 higher. If I change my dates from 8-12, the price remains the high price. I thought I once read where someone had a continuing reservation where they booked the one day for the high price and kept the rest of the days at the low price.

How does this work??? Would I have to change to a different room the next day? I am trying to avoid this.

To avoid the entire reservation being charged the higher rate, you will need to make a one day reservation for the higher charge. When checking in, let the front desk know that you have another reservation starting the next day. They might be able to keep you in the same room. You will still need to come down to the front I think and "check out and back in" for the next reservation, but hopefully you will get the same room.
