Continuing dogs in resorts.

I think the reason they continued this was to make sure the non-dog resorts stay that way. If you don’t want a bed that a dog may have slept in, then don’t stay at the selected resorts. There are only 4 resorts where dogs can stay. Prior to this policy, if you had a service animal, you could stay at any resort with that animal.

I think service dogs are still able to stay anywhere.

They are. That has not changed.

No matter where you go there is no guarantee your room has never had a dog occupant. I'm not sure about the whole dog in the bed complaint. The sheets are washed between guests.

This. Also, just because a dog stays in a room does not mean the dog slept in the bed.

That said, I've encountered more than a few dogs who are infinitely cleaner than some people I've run across - even at Disney.

If it brings in revenue, it will continue, so it must be doing so.

I still have my fingers crossed about this one. Disney has not officially released any info (that I'm aware of). I booked my BB last week and was assured by the CM I spoke with that this was being discontinued -- as the room available to us was at POR, we wanted FQ. I told her my personal concerns with the dogs at the resort and she said Disney has no plans to continue this and assured me there would be no dogs (except for service animals) at the resort.

it has been reported in more than one place. Wouldn't be the first time a phone CM was horribly misinformed.

Yeah no the law prohibits Disney from mandating specific resorts and rooms for that matter where service animals can and can not stay.

If you're stating prior to the policy dogs that were pets (i.e. non-service animals) were not able to stay at any resort that would be accurate as since the policy was implemented dogs that were pets were allowed in specific resorts only according to their policy.

I was told today the "trial" is over because it's now permanent indefinitely. This came from George Kalogridis' office. Two people have called to confirm this after I emailed him a few weeks back. Sorry for those that are not happy. I'm on the other side of the fence.
I know some will probably not believe this until it's on paper from Disney so take it how you want.

We stayed at POFQ in April/May of this year, and though it is not a dog resort, we did see 3dogs here. One was a Maltese in the food court/skat cat lounge, one was a Yorkshire terrier in the main pool area and another walking along the walkway between POR and POFQ, so not sure which resort this pup was staying at. My long point is, even if you stay at a non dog resort, you will probably still see support dogs.

It was announced yesterday it is continuing.

Service dogs are allowed at any/all resorts.

Oh sorry about the misinformation. That’s what I get for watching vlogs. I was wondering how Disney could get away with that in regards to service animals. My family doesn’t have any severe allergies so IDC either way. As long as my room is clean.

The ADA actually does prohibit this https://www.servicedogcertifications.org/service-dog-rules-for-staying-in-hotels/ "Under the ADA laws, the hotel cannot charge an extra fee for the service animal as they would another client with a pet. This also means you and your dog will be allowed in the public areas of the hotel, as well as having the right to a floor and room that are not normally designated for people traveling with pets."

They are keeping the program because it was profitable, and without enough issues to discontinue it.

I now have resorts that are off my list because while I have no problem with any service dog in any resort, restaurant or grocery store, I do take issue with animals being left in rooms, or non service animals being taken into common areas of resorts and hotels. I realize it is my problem though, so I will just adjust and let sleeping dogs lie.

I'm guessing you didn't understand what I was saying lol. I was saying that the law prohibits it. The law meaning ADA.

You interpreted my "yeah, no" part of my comment to mean something else. Try to imagine how someone might say that in person and you might get it more.

For other posters who are looking for clarification here is a clearer way of spelling it out:
