Received an email offer from the Continental One Pass Card at the end of December. The card includes 50,000 bonus miles after your first purchase, and the $95 fee waived for the first year. I've got some questions about the offer, though, before I apply.

1) Can you cancel the card within the first year, so that you don't have to pay the yearly fee, ever?

2) The bonus miles say that they are enough for 2 round trip tickets, but in the fine print it also says they "can be redeemed using miles at the EasyPass (or equivalent) reward level." When I look up flights, the only flights that seem to be "cheap" enough to buy 2 round trip tickets are the "saver pass" miles, not the "easy pass" miles-- using those seems to only get me one round trip flight. So, can these be redeemed for "saver pass" miles, too, or only for "easy pass" miles?

3)Can DH and I both apply and get two cards, and hence, twice the reward miles? Note: We both have excellent credit, but I am currently a SAHM, so I have very little income (we're talking I sub 2-3 hours a week at my son's preschool-- Maybe I net $100/month).

TIA for any answers you may have! --Katie

1. Yes, you can definitely cancel the card within that first year and not have to pay the annual fee. I have sometimes even waited (by accident) until it actually was 1 year and then saw the charge on my bill... I called them up and cancelled, stating I didn't want to have to pay an annual fee. So, they removed the fee and tried to talk me into keeping the card (I didn't want to), and then cancelled it for me.

2. Yes, those bonus miles COULD be enough for 2 domestic RT tickets, but most of the time you miss out on the "cheap" miles seats and end up using more miles. If you plan around 10-11 months ahead of time, you might get lucky and be able to snag the 25K RT flights.

3. If there is a code in your email, only the person it is addressed to will be able to apply for that particular offer. I believe, though, that there is the same offer online if you look for it... so, to answer your question, I believe that if you and your husband both fill out the application online at the SAME TIME you can both get the card (two different computers and hit submit at the same time). Now, if you do it, and then your husband does a couple of days later, they will likely deny you. I believe that if you list the school district you sub for as your job and state your household income, that you should get approved (though I can't say for certain). Do you have your own Continental FF account already (and membership #) and your husband his own? Currently, United and Continental are going to merge their points, so maybe you can get the Continental card and your husband the United one (same offer for miles). He can then move his United miles straight over to his Continental account online. The cards are both with Chase bank though, so, again.. if you do the submit at the same time thing, it doesn't have time to "process" the info being at the same address - which is why you may get both a card for you and 1 for your husband.
