Hi guys! I have a quick question im hoping someone could help me with :worship:

We are flying from Heathrow to Orlando in July with Continental via Newark since we have not been able to find a suitable price flying direct with VA this year :(

Myself, I've never been on an indirect flight before, But my fiance has had one previous experience around 10 years ago so we arent that knowledgable with this.

We are getting pretty nervous and stressful over the fact that once we get to Newark we only have 90 minutes to make our connection for our flight to Orlando.
If im honest, when we booked we just looked at the earliest time we could get to Orlando, and did not really take much notice of our connection time, But we are now starting to really worry about it.

On our return, we only have an hour to make our connection back to Heathrow, which is also stressing us out.

I just wanted to know if anyone has had similiar experiences which could comfort us, or atleast help us understand how things would work if we unfortunatley did miss our connection.

Thankyou so much!

I meant to say, I pressume they would be responsible, at least thats what I believe if they booked it for you.

90 minutes at Newark is do-able, but it could be tight. If you can get off the plane quickly, walk briskly and there's not massive queues at immigration, you'll be okay.

The good news however, is that even if you miss the connecting flight, there's plenty of Contintental flights from Newark to Orlando later in the day (picking a random day, I see seven flights listed between 12:00 and 20:00). Once you're through to the other side, either head to the gate your flight was meant to be departing from, or any Continental customer service desk and they should be able to put you on the stand-by list for the next flight. Did this once with Delta when our flight from London got in late and we were put on the list for the next one to MCO - turned out to be plenty of free seats so it wasn't a problem, we even got to sit together.

On the way back, as you haven't got to worry about getting through customs or anything, one hour is plenty. Won't give you much time to do duty free though, if that's something you are counting on.

Hopefully your flight will arrive early giving you more than 90 mins but don't worry about it, if you miss that they will get you on the next.
Just seen previous post before I posted, as above CO will have plenty of flights that day. Don't mess about, try get a seat near front of plane, get to immigration ASAP in fastest line and you should be OK.
Only airport I would advise 2 hours + is Atlanta, all others I have done including Newark 90 mins has been enough. Same back 60 mins is fine if fights are on time.

We flew continental from Edinburgh last year with oly 90 minutes lay over, even being about last through immigration and husband picked for extra screening and mae it with about 5 minutes to spare

Thanks for the replies guys!

Its a relief knowing others have experienced similiar situations, and atleast now I can relax knowing its do-able. We will, ofcourse, make sure we get off that plane quickly and sprint to immigration, I wont be taking any risks :thumbsup2

Thanks again for everyone help!

if you miss your flight, continental will put you on the next available flight...

DD and i missed our connection a few years back and by the time we crossed out of customs, the airline had already put us on the next one....when we went to drop our luggage at the connecting flight luggage drop off, we asked the airline agent what we should do - she said, "you've missed your flight (which we'd already figured out) so we've scheduled you on the next one"..

it wasn't a problem at all...

I am laughing....
when we flew to kansas, our flight was delayed, they announced...

IF YOU DO NOT HAVE A CONNECTING FLIGHT STAY SEATED

:rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:

Every single person stood up and exited the plane in a hurry.:rolleyes1

We were late but they held the plane for whatever reason and shoved up on, we got upgraded as they had given our seats away.

I have to say I thought 90 mins wasnt that long but  a night in new york, would suit me just fine:thumbsup2
